I'm trying to remember a book I read as a child. My mum thinks I've dreamt it but I'm adamant it's real 🤣
Starts as a young girl who is getting bullied, she gets the bus home i think and the bullies wait for her. I think her brother normally meets her but one day he isn't there and she ends up hiding in a theatre where eventually she ends up going into acting ? She goes hop picking with her family which she's ashamed of at school. I remember her brothers work in a factory...maybe a paper mill? I'm sure her dad gets her a trowl at the end of the book to signify him accepting her. I think she's called Elsie? Could be making that bit up !
