Looking for a bag that ticks the following boxes:

  • For days out so big enough to hold purse, phone, small umbrella, glasses case etc
  • Not bulky despite the above
  • Not a backpack (not secure enough from pickpockets
  • Doesn’t have to be leather
  • Stylish Confused
  • Budget up to about £85

That's similar to the ubiquitous Uniqlo bag. I have a couple and am always amazed at how much you can fit into them! The crossbody style and adjustable strap feels very secure as well.

I find most bags who can hold a lot are awkward to carry on a day out. I hate having a large bag on one shoulder.

I normally go for a small-ish backpack with anything I could theoretically loose and have keys, purse and phone in a coat pocket or if the weather is too good for a coat, I just take a cross body bag as I don't need an umbrella. I also have a tiny purse for days out, cards are with the phone and the purse just has the odd note and a couple of coins (I could actually just have it loose in the bag).

I have a large bust so lots of bags look ridiculous on me and I learnt to minimise.

DD has learnt to have her own bag from early on, I am not carrying all her crap.

Thanks all! I hadn’t considered the Uniqlo sling bag - and that last one @EmotionalSupportBlanketis intriguing!!

Update if anyone is interested - I bought the Kipling Abanu in dark brown and it’s perfect!
