Please could anyone advise on the fastest bus route from Leeds railway station to the Thackray museum please? Any other pointers for first time visitors to Leeds would be great too. We plan on a little shopping as well as the museum. TIA.

Not sure in bus routes but also check out:

Leeds City museum (near the cathedral)
Leeds Industrial museum (bus route from H stand in bus station)
Kirkstall Abbey
Corn Exchange for small shops
Flight club for older family members

The Thackeray is next door to Jimmy's (St James hospital) so anything that takes you there would get you very close.

Rudy's pizza is a nice, good quality budget friendly pizza place

Pizza Punks do a fab gluten free pizza for anyone who is onnthe look out for G/F food

Thank you. The Lego store is on our hit list for the shopping but I like small independent shops too. Anywhere selling dragons and jewellery would be great. We are only there for the day and getting there by train from Manchester.

Number 16, I think - I take it regularly from near the train station to St James’

Try the Corn Exchange for independent shops like that

You can put the route into Google maps and select public transport and time of travel. I did this for tomorrow morning and it suggested the number 14 bus and number 42 bus. It shows you where to get on and off the bus.
By the way, I live in Leeds and love the Thackray Museum so good choice!

Are there any other must see/do places? We are here and the sun is shining 😃

If you prefer small independent shops head for The Corn Exchange.
Leeds is a lot smaller than Manchester and most things are easily walkable (small children and mobility issues aside)

My favourite things to do in Leeds:
Victorian Arcades (especially the Victoria Quarter),
The Market (you can see the original Marks and Spencer stall - it's where they started)
The City Museum
The Royal Armouries
Tea and cake at the beautiful Tiled Hall Cafe in the Art Gallery.
The Corn Exchange
Shopping!
If you're with a teenager/child there are lots of fun things to do like bowling, shuffle board, escape rooms etc.

I think we missed most of the good stuff!! We did the main shops and the corn exchange plus the museum. The cafe was dreadful. Never before have I not eaten a scone. Ah well. Dd really liked Leeds and we had a nice day out.
