Any Bilbao recommendations?

Travelling tomorrow and it’s forecast lots of showers for the few days I’m there.
ive booked Guggenheim and a Basque villages tour.
any other suggestions??

We hired a boat in getxo, went to the museums on the bank: ate a los of pinxos especially at the food market in town, and had a great time! The alternative area is opposite the gugg if that’s your thing.

It was rainy when we went too btw

The transporter bridge is a novelty, you can get there by the local metro.

We went round the football stadium! Really good museum. There's a good archaeological museum. The indoor food market is good but doesn't take long to go around.

Take the Funicular de Artxanda up the hill for a great view of the city - there's a supermarket at the bottom for snacks.

We enjoyed the indoor market Erriberako merkatua for pintxos.

San Sebastian is worth a day trip but not sure if there's much to do bar the Aquarium if it's raining

You can spend all day walking round the old town exploring coffee shops, tapas bars, chic shops and art galleries

there is a very cool art centre about 10 min walk from the Guggenheim with a swimming pool on the roof - that’s all worth a visit too and free to get in.

Second vote for the indoor market, brilliant for lunch and a few glasses of vino.
