How many computers/tablets do you have?

Just curious how many pieces of electronics (things with a screen) you have and what you use them for?

My setup:
Android main phone: just messaging and 'phone' stuff, sometimes urgent emails, music for commuting
Old iPhone SE: barely usable if uncharged, so permanently charging for playing music with airplay
Desktop: with a 27-inch monitor. For writing, processing all logistics, planning with Maps, Mumsnet 😂, online store management, some photo editing. Occasionally watching shows.
Projector: watching films. No TVs so this is my TV.

I just broke my laptop and am thinking of replacing it. Then I thought, hmm, perhaps I just need the desktop... maybe this is excessive... I used to use the laptop on my couch doing the exact same things as when using the desktop. Obviously I bring it outdoors.

The one thing I only do on the laptop is finding painting references when I paint.

Used to also have an ipad but ended up only playing candy crush so sold it...😂

So how many do you have!!!

Between me & DP we have:

1 laptop from work which is permanently upstairs on my desk
1 really ancient laptop with a dodgy screen, used by DP on the dining table as it has to be plugged in at all times and you can't close the lid
1 newer one which is mine and I use it on my lap whilst sat on the sofa for general web browsing.
1 chromebook which is not used much, it's too old for the updates now and is very slow but it does still work.
1 android phone each.

1 TV in the living room (not a smart TV)

I used to also have a 7in tablet but didn't replace that when it died and don't really need one now.

we don’t have a laptop. We have two desktop PCs, and a smartphone each.

TheDandyLion · 19/04/2025 11:52

I have a work laptop and a personal all in 1 PC with a second monitor that can switch between the two. DH has the same.
We also both have a work phone and a personal phone each.
I have an ereader and an eNotebook.
DH has a tablet and 6 projector screens for his work projects. There is also a smaller projector in the living room with a chromecast we use for watching tv and a laptop in the bedroom used only for watching tv.
Another laptop sits next to the wifi router which houses our home network files.
2 old mobile phones which are being repurposed into webcams one is looking at the front door the other is looking at the bird feeder. Another mobile phone is used as a remote control for the lights.

Edited to add: DH also has a couple of Raspberry Pi's of which I don't know what for he tinkers around with them.

Too many 🤣

DH and I, work laptop each, personal laptop each, and android phone each.

Teen DS, laptop, tablet and android phone. Not sure if including, but various gaming devices also.

Rest of house, 1 desktop, 1 tablet, 2 if you count an old amazon Fire tablet but that's only brought out for use if we have an extended power cut. Couple of old phones that are used for games or on wifi, no sim, for younger kids.

2 fairly large smart TVs. 1 TV set up for gaming only. 1 old TV with a Chromecast in my bedroom that I cast stuff from my phone to.

Projector used in one of the family rooms for "movie night". Also various kindles but not sure if they count.

Think that's probably it. Family of 2 adults, 1 teen, 1 tween, and 1 mid - primary age.

A ridiculous number really.

Between the 4 of us, we have 3 desktop machines all built by us. DH work laptop which is beast as he needs powerful one for programming. My laptop which is just really for browsing the Web and word processing. We all have an android phone each, we have 2 smart TV's one older one.

So that's 5 computers, 4 phones, 3 TV's, we used to have 2 7" tablets as well but they no longer charge. Oh and a Wii and Nintendo switch.

henlake7 · 19/04/2025 17:14

Just me,
1 smart TV
1 desktop pc, mainly for gaming/YouTube,etc
1 tablet I mostly read on(need a new one tho as the OS is antique).
1 android phone

I'm not very techy though. Everything will be kept until it is so out of date it no longer functions!

FourEyesGood · 19/04/2025 17:15

1 family desktop (I rarely use it, but do occasionally)
1 laptop - for proper researching, watching films, sending longer emails
1 work laptop (belongs to work; will be giving it back when I leave in July) - for work (making PowerPoints, mainly)
1 smartphone
1 family TV

There are loads of other devices in the house (e.g. son’s laptop, daughter’s iPad) but the above list represents the ones I use.

Edited because I forgot to include what I use them for (and to correct a typo).

DramaAlpaca · 19/04/2025 17:23

Three adults in the house, we have:
An android smartphone each
My work desktop, which is rarely used as I hate working from home
Family desktop
A laptop each
DH's work laptop
A tablet each
A smart TV
A kindle each
Gosh, that sounds a lot, but only my phone and DH's tablet are less than a year old. Most of the rest of the tech is old and slow.

good to know I'm not alone in having so many !!

DH- one very old laptop that gets used sometimes and one older (but still very old laptop) He has a phone.

Me- work macbook, work iphone, personal phone. I also have an old kindle that I keep losing.

Kids all have Samsung phones (5), and one has a Kindle. They all have Chromebooks for school/College/university. I think one got an iPad recently, but he's older.
