Anyone recommend anyone any good? Have tried Asda and Waitrose in the past.

Asda and Waitrose like chalk and cheese

Waitrose all the way

catin8oot5 · 17/04/2025 19:51

Tescos is always good.

shellyleppard · 17/04/2025 19:52

Morrisons are very good. They deliver to a specific room if you ask and they refund the carrier bags.

Bedchairtable321 · 17/04/2025 19:53

I think it's area dependent.
When we moved I tried them all and tesco were the best (my old address it was Asda- which were the worst in new area).

Mynewnameis · 17/04/2025 19:57

I keep going back to tesco. They are reliable, they price match. They refund easily via WhatsApp message

Alternativelyviewed · 17/04/2025 20:01

Thanks I don't think we have a Morrisons near by.

Ive used ocado, morrisons and tesco, you asked to not reccomend ocado, so all I'll say is definitely dont use morrisons or tesco, both appalling, entire shop covered in milk literally every week, had to go out and buy essentials, like bread because they weren't subbed, every week. Fresh food expiring on the day, every week.

Morrisons were the absolute worst, at the time we were spending £18k a year on our family of 9, and they couldn't care less. Removing a bag option was the final straw, along with seeing the pickers in action in store....

Screamingabdabz · 17/04/2025 20:10

Tesco Finest stuff is ok by me. Just as nice as M&S I find.

BobnLen · 17/04/2025 20:11

Waitrose, they don't have a delivery pass but I have a 4 hour slot, they let you know before which hour it is and it's only £2

Alternativelyviewed · 17/04/2025 20:14

@BobnLen really? So I would book a four hour window, and would that be set to one particular day?

@FixTheBone I've always been so happy with them but unfortunately I've found out tonight I've been funding a company all these year's whose views oppose my own .

Oneearringlost · 17/04/2025 20:14

Been using Tesco for years.
Excellent communication, reliable, sensible swaps, if any, helpful delivery drivers...available slots, wouldn't consider changing.

BobnLen · 17/04/2025 20:22

It's called a saver slot, which is 4 hours, before the 4 hour slot they text the hour your shopping will arrive, it's ok if you know you will be in for that 4 hours when you book it, Tesco and Sainsbury's do a similar thing

TheAutumnCrow · 17/04/2025 20:27

Tesco’s bogs policy is in effect self-ID, isn’t it?

Thisismyalterego · 17/04/2025 20:27

Clearly it's area dependent. We have used Tesco for over 20 years now and apart from a few minor issue now and again, are very happy. When there are problems, they are quick to refund and on the odd occasion when it's been a bigger issue than, for example cracked eggs, they have usually given us a voucher to use against the next order. I have tried Asda but they were much less reliable.

That's your local Tesco. I've not experienced any of that with ours

Tescos is always good.

Been with Tesco almost 2 years.
excellent
Good quality , good prices, and very friendly, helpful staff.

BobnLen · 17/04/2025 20:37

I have used Tesco and Sainsbury's before and was happy with both. I didn't like Asda.

Redglitter · 17/04/2025 20:37

I'd recommend Tesco. Easy to get slots. Very few subs & the drivers here are lovely

I've very rarely had a problem with sell by dates and if I have there's never been a problem with refunds

And I love the clubcard savings

Jeminijune · 17/04/2025 20:39

I don't think any of the supermarkets can cover themselves in glory, you'll find suspect morals and principles in all them surely? They are all interested in pure profit, if you want to buy ethically it would mean buying from farm shops and the like. Re, which alternative to ocado, as others have said I think it's area dependent, I use Asda, always on time, polite drivers, never a problem with refunds, I don't look too far into their ethics though, pretty sure it would unearth dubious practices.

BobnLen · 17/04/2025 20:43

A lot depends on the store it come from, my Waitrose is a very large one so probably has more stock and variety than a smaller one, also probably more slots

Magi84 · 17/04/2025 20:43

I have been using Tesco regularly now for six years and can’t fault them. As others have said substitutions are usually sensible and they are always certain to confirm what time they will deliver if using the four hour slot system. Drivers are super helpful too.

lovemycbf · 17/04/2025 20:44

I can’t fault Sainsburys
I’ve used them for years without problem

Alternativelyviewed · 17/04/2025 20:46

@Jeminijune absolutely but after the post by Justine at mnhq I can't ignore ocados.

They were going to partner with mn but said something like mn espouses hateful views then cut them off.
I' am possibly mis quoting there are a few thread's about it

OP posts:
ScarletWitchM · 17/04/2025 20:47

I’ve used all of them and had issues with every one except Ocado - the problem with the other supermarkets is that the online picking is done by staff from the shop shelves so the inventory is subject to substitutions and out of stocks more than Ocado as they don’t have any actual ‘shops’ I know you don’t want to use Ocado so in my experience Waitrose or Sainsbury’s are the best next options

Somethingthecatdraggedin7 · 17/04/2025 20:56

Love ocado. Far and away the best but waitrose is very good too. Tried tesco and sainsburys and found them awful with multiple and frequently bizarre substitutions, short date items and delivery drivers who were often rude and or thick.
I presume ocado and waitrose pay better and are more selective in their staff because their delivery staff are noticeably more efficient and polite.
