Threadworms…HELP!

DD(4) has worms. Discovered this evening after she woke up upset. She has had a warm bath and we’ve put sudocrem on her vulva/bum in the hope it might smooth the itching a bit - it has done nothing. She managed to sleep for about an hour but has now been screaming inconsolably for an hour. She just drifts off to sleep and then starts screaming bloody murder again. It’s absolutely heartbreaking. I’ve given her a cool pack and am obviously lying with her. I don’t know what else I can do to help until the morning (we know the whole ovex, hoover, damp dust, hot wash etc.).

I’d give her a dose of antihistamine if we had any, just to see if it would knock her out for a bit but I think sending DH out to buy phenergan from a 24 hour pharmacy might look a bit suspect?!

This will probably gross you out but - get them out!! Use a. Torch and just remove with tissue.

We have had them several times over the years and when they first appear there will only be a couple. Just get her to tell you when she feels the itch and then you remove, wash hands change pants and done. Obex first thing tomorrow.

It's impossible for them to asleep with the wiggly little bastards down there!

Antihistamine wont stop the itching as it's not caused by a reaction it's a physical thing - once the physical cause is gone she'll be much better.

Another vote for getting your torch out and removing them. If you've just discovered them there won't be many.
