National trust membership

Hi, hoping someone else has been as silly as me. This morning I went to sign us up for a national trust membership, me, DH and two kids under five. When I put in my security code it was wrong and the transaction got declined so I thought I'd sort it tonight instead.

I went to sign us up again and could only do a joint membership where I couldn't add the children. Didn't think too much of it. When I went to pay it didn't ask me for the security code this time just a thumbprint on the Google wallet. All went through fine.

Something in me did think to check my bank account though and I realised I've been charged twice once for the family membership and once for the joint membership. I'm going to give them a call tomorrow but do you think they'll refund? It's the same email address both signed up for the same people on the same day. On maternity leave so can't afford this mistake 🙄

They’ll probably refund one of them for you. As I recall you put in your name and home address for them to send your membership cards to you, so they will be able to see your details on both memberships.

NT have pretty good customer service. I’m sure if you ring them they will be able to help you. Also kids under 5 are free so you just need a joint membership for you and DH

I’m sure they’ll refund as it’s pretty obvious you don’t need these two memberships for yourself.

Thanks both! The memberships were the same price as @Ohshitiveturnedintomymothersays I don't need to pay for under 5's so the only difference in them was 1 had the kids names on there and the other didn't.

Logically I know they're likely to refund it's just £160 I can't afford to lose 😬

I work for the NT. I'd be absolutely astounded if they don't refund you the joint membership.

In fact, as you've not actually used your membership yet, I'd be astounded if they don't happily refund both.

Ime, their customer service is excellent, spoke to an actual human.

If one transaction failed it might just drop off anyway. Have you had confirmation?

I’ve had good experience with NT and memberships.

Thanks everyone. I'm sure I'll get it sorted tomorrow
