I’ll start

Supersize Me. When it came out so many people told me I’d never want a McDonald’s again. I went out straight away the next morning to get a bacon and egg McMuffin and enjoyed every last bite.

Beaches. I watched it with my Uni flatmate who told me I would cry my eyes out. I kept waiting for the sad bit as she snot cried the whole way through 🫢

Coffee. All the different types. I love tea but don’t like coffee.

Most trends and fads pass me by to be honest. I don't have social media and other than MN the whole online world passes me by. It's mostly mindless junk. Laurel/ Yanni, wtf?? Bottle flipping, dabbing, memes, flossing, baking sourdough bread etc. I hear things through my kids but don't ever feel the need to engage. I have never for one second regretted not knowing such mindless junk, if anything I think less of those who do.

Baking sourdough bread isn't mindless junk - it's just... good bread that you can make. TikTok didn't invent it Grin

Sex & the City, Friends, E.T., reality shows, crocs, rap

ImWearingPantaloons · 16/04/2025 09:23

lip fillers and those massive eyebrows - how anyone considers them an improvement on what they started with needs a word with themselves.

At the moment: Dubai chocolate and anything Matcha. Have a Dairy Milk and a normal coffee, and get over yourself

Recently, Baby Reindeer and Adolescence. If only I could work up a Netflix script called "Teenage Elk" or something similar which blended the two over hyped ideas into a smash outrage blockbuster hit and make a fortune.

AI will work up a film treatment for you…

Speckson · 16/04/2025 09:30

Most musicals - very boring.
Modern US comedy shows, ie. anything later than the early 70s. I used to love the surreal stuff from way back like Rowan and Martin's Laugh-in.
Stuff with brand names plastered on them. Why turn yourself into a walking bill-board for Nike, Chanel etc.? And pay more for it!

vincettenoir · 16/04/2025 09:31

Wes Anderson films. The ones I have seen have been a real snoozefest.

OneAvidHazelQuoter · 16/04/2025 09:35

The Wire and Breaking Bad. Didn't make it past 1 or 2 seasons of either. Couldn't see at all that either were 'best TV ever'.

The Shield, however. I thought that was excellent. I'd end each season thinking it couldn't get any better and it always did.

squashyhat · 16/04/2025 09:42

Harry Potter. Botox. Theme parks. Head bows on baby girls. Socks with sliders. Taylor Swift.

GreenTurtles3 · 16/04/2025 09:48

Strictly
Disneyland/World
Love Island
Botox, fillers etc
Fake Tan
Soaps
Hinching

HellDorado · 16/04/2025 10:19

The shift to it being acceptable and popular to wear trainers on a night out. I just pretend it never happened.

The Matrix. I saw it on video with friends who were obsessed with it and were really excited to introduce a newcomer to it. They genuinely looked hurt when I found it all a bit “good special effects, but not much else”.

SocialEvent · 16/04/2025 10:19

Heartstopper. Twee sheltered nonsense bearing no relation to the ease or difficulty of life for the majority of gay or bi teenagers.

Twilight: glamorising sexist controlling teenage relationships.

Harry and Meghan. Nobody else needs to be emotionally involved in their struggles at all.

Vaping, ugh. Harmful to humans and disgusting environmentally.

Unboxing videos. Bubble tea. Putting your kids on social media. Long nails stuck on by a professional

SocialEvent · 16/04/2025 10:21

Forgot microwaving cakes in a mug

Coffee. All the different types. I love tea but don’t like coffee.

The worst is the number of people who will try to persuade you that you don’t like it because you’ve only had instant; that you’d love REAL coffee.

Er, no. Coffee is still coffee, even if it’s the best possible example of it. And I don’t bloody like coffee!!

RedOnyx · 16/04/2025 10:43

Bond films. Couldn't care less about them.

I have and no interest in Towie, Geordie Shore and whatever other ones are out there. Never seen any of them, never want to. Ditto Love Island.

The Blair Witch Project. Boring. I kept waiting for something actually scary to happen.

The Catcher in the Rye. Again I was waiting for something actually interesting to happen. I guess technically the last two did have an effect on me though, if you consider being bored to be feeling something.

Summertimeblahness · 16/04/2025 10:54

Greggs
Crocs
TV in general
Airfryers
Stanley cups
All inclusive or package holidays

AffIt · 16/04/2025 12:02

The Blair Witch Project.

I went to the cinema THREE times to watch it (I know, but I was a student and tickets were cheap back in them days) and see if I had missed anything.

Nope. Didn't get it then, still don't get it now.

I've also never seen any epic TV series like GoT / The Wire / Breaking Bad / 24 etc. I'm sure they're very good, but I have a fragile attention span and I'm just not willing to commit that amount of mental and emotional energy.

Oh, and Fleabag - what a pile of neurotic middle-class London-centric nonsense. Phoebe Thingmy really gets on my tits.

LlynTegid · 16/04/2025 12:26

Star Wars
Harry Potter (well the books and films anyway)

BobbyBiscuits · 16/04/2025 12:31

I've never seen any Star Wars films.
I've never seen Titanic, Dirty Dancing, Mamma Mia, Noting Hil, Love actually And most romcoms.
I've never seen Towie or Made in Chelsea.
I've never seen a Marvel movie.
Garage Music completely passed me by.
I have never tried anything Matcha flavoured, or bubble tea.

thesnailandthewhale · 16/04/2025 12:38

Marvel
Any sequels to a film, I like the original and that’s it, don’t need to see another ten versions of the same format thanks

Shetlands · 16/04/2025 12:43

#BeKind because TWAW.
I've never jumped on that ridiculous bandwagon and after today, I can't be compelled to!
Woman = Adult Human Female

BlondiePortz · 16/04/2025 12:56

Fake tan, teeth, nails, lips, hair, makeup, heels, hot tubs, sun lounges, Disney,

MarkWithaC · 16/04/2025 13:33

Parasite. SO overrated.

The Apprentice (yes I know no one likes it now, but it used to be huge. I always thought 'meh'.)
Masterchef in its current incarnation. I like Grace Dent but CBA watching it even for her. I used to love it when Lloyd Grossman was on it and it was cosy and in-jokey and a bit low-budget.
The Wire. Like watching a PhD thesis.
Curb Your Enthusiasm. Just an ego trip.
Game of Thrones. Sexist claptrap with stupid dragons.

Bubble tea. I don't know why you would.
Burger places like Five Guys etc.

the80sweregreat · 16/04/2025 13:40

I’ve never seen Star Wars or GoT or the Rings films.
Just not my type of thing really.
People are surprised though.

Moier · 16/04/2025 13:50

Gender reveals ( never got told in my day). Baby showers.
Bottomless brunches.
Birthday parties for every birthday from age of 1.
