DS loves books but I feel like he's getting a little bored of our selection - what are everyone's top choices for a just turned 4 year old? New and classics.

He loves sea creatures, superheroes and pirates/knights.

We had a LOT of pirate books at that age!

Mine liked The Pirates of Scurvy Sands, Ten Little Pirates etc, but they also enjoyed a lovely hardback we had that came with a little plastic magnifying glass, about pirates and their ships - will try and find a link. They also enjoyed other "Look Inside" ones at that age.

For non-pirate related, they loved the Oi Frog series, Would You Rather, most of the Julia Donaldsons and Oliver Jeffers (especially Stuck). Our most-read book was probably You Choose, which I had a love/hate relationship with 😆

Thank you! We've had Ten Little Pirates from the library and he loved it. And I'm sure there's a few Julia Donaldsons we've missed...

Any other suggestions welcome!

You Choose, Julia Donaldson but also the Runaway Pea series, It's Mine! and the Flip Flap books

Dr Seuss is great, and lots of books.

You Choose, even though I was sometimes tempted to lose it.
