Do business coaches offer retreats now instead of online coaching?

Curious, that's all. Been contimplating signing up to do a proper business course to get my small bus idea off the ground. Been thinking about it for to long so this weekend did tons of research. A couple Ive been looking at are doing retreats some in the uk and some abroad.

Anyone done a retreat? Are they all work? Is it intense as it's only a few days or so. Did you get to meet other people that you could call upon etc?

I was just thinking online learning, coaching but got me thinking if a retreat is the new thing now and worth the plunge.

Many do, yes. It’s become quite ‘the thing’ this past year or so with quite a few I know. Different speciality coaches, though I think, not just ‘business’.

However, the retreats are all part of a much longer programme, rather than just dropping a lot of strangers in a space to learn. The retreats I know of are just a few days of intense work in a different, in person environment. Deep bonding with people you’ve only known online until that point.

What is it you’re looking to learn? For such an intense session, I’d look to narrow down the focus.

Ah right I think a retreat is for further down the line then, sounds very good and more focus Im.guessing once you are established. Have you done any retreats?Im looking at a membership type business.

Definitely a recent trend to have 'Masterminds' or 'Retreats', but my experience is that they provide basic information, at an expensive price, and often only as a sales funnel to upsell you later.

If you are looking at coaching to get your business of the ground or growing, you could also consider making contact with a local Growth Hub, Help to Grow programme, Innovate Uk services, or Start Up schemes generally via your local authority, local universities or Combined Mayoral Authority (if you're in an area that has a Mayor). Also worth making contact with your local accredited chamber (accredited is key) to see what support and funding they offer too.

There is much support or funding available if you look at those places first. And usually free, or with a heavily subsidised by local authority fee. If nothing else the same quality at significant less cost.

Just putting it out there as an alternative thing to explore!

There are good business coaches out there, but they are hard to find through the volume. And much of the benefit is in the relationship you have with your specific coach (someone who can support and challenge). If you do find someone you think you'd might like to use, ask to speak to current and past clients for reference, maybe go to a session as an taster, ask on linked in for recommendations etc

I’ve worked through various programmes (an absolute must imho, in order to get the knowledge), but I don’t go on retreats - not a fan of peopling! I can just about handle a networking event occasionally.

It sounds like you have an idea, so now you need to find someone to guide you through the way to launch your membership.

Yes locally not what I want amd takes too long. I want to learn the step by steps to build an audience, get noticed and sell but sell as a passive income and a membership will allow me to draw in each week or month. There's 2 people Im looking at, both offer tons of support and a system and retreats! Prob need to walk before I run though

OK, I’d recommend following these people for a while, maybe find another or two as well. Get a feel for how they work, whether you ‘vibe’ with them. Good ones share really good tips freely, and regularly. And the really good ones hold free events where you can learn a lot without signing up and paying.

I’ve friends who launched really successful memberships just from free five day challenges.

I’m sure you’re aware that a passive income is definitely not passive! You have to work at it, constantly, marketing, audience growth etc.

@PlatinumBrunette took the plunge and signed up to a 5 day challenge with one coach and will take it from there. Feeling chuffed 😉

Ahh, I think I know who that one may be - in May?
Research more, get an idea of different people and how they all work.
