What’s the most pleasant place & time of year to learn? If it’s a budget blowing big Birthday ‘treat’, anywhere in world? Thanks. Is it too hard to learn north of 40?

It's not easy. Mostly because as kids you don't have an inbuilt fear of falling and breaking limbs so they learn easily, but it's doable.
But you don't want to go booking a holiday , expensive or not unless you've had a good number of lessons first. Get yourself booked into one of the snow domes (Manchester, Hemel Hempstead, Milton Keynes) for some private lessons for a good number of sessions, otherwise you'll end up on the baby slopes with 4 yr olds😆
(And don't try snowboarding... Definitely not for over 40s...ask me how I know...)

try tignes lots of gentle slopes and good skiing long into the season. take lessons at the dry slopes, it really helps and just relax and enjoy it!
