I took two Paracetamol at 2pm this afternoon is it ok to have alcohol now 10pm

Im going through a mega stressful time and would like a drink to help me sleep. Is it ok to have a glass 8 hours after taking them?

Yes

gamerchick · 12/04/2025 22:11

It's fine.

Good for you for being mindful of it though.

BacktoBeginnersFran · 12/04/2025 22:11

I'd say yes, no problem.
Hope you get some rest

It's just like night nurse 😆
I would have no qualms about taking paracetamol with alcohol

I will say though, that alcohol doesn't let you have a restful sleep. It disrupts the bodies natural sleep rhythm and probably get you up to pee.

I wouldn’t think it would be harmful after that length of time.

In the kindest way, it’s not a good idea to use alcohol to help with sleep or alleviate stress.

Alcohol hinders sleep quality and causes higher anxiety levels. It’s associated with ‘relaxation’ as it’s quicker effects are anaesthetic, but honestly it’s only make
the stress worse long term.

Would anything else help you sleep?

Just looked on the NHS website and it says alcohol would be fine - in moderation of course- unless you have an underlying medical condition such as liver disease.
But I do agree with pp you would probably get better quality sleep without it.

Thankyou all, I knew it probably was but my head is all over the place! I barely slept last night and I'm hoping a little drink helps me nod off easier tonight.

There's no reason to avoid alcohol with paracetamol. It's particular antibiotics (though not all) that mean you shouldn't drink alcohol.

Do you think you could see a GP though, to help with something to sleep? Rather than alcohol.

I appreciate it might be no concern, but it’ll save you needing to use alcohol to help. Slippery slope.

I know alcohol isn't the solution, anxiety is my issue triggered by stress that's making me worry. I can't switch off when I go to bed because I'm ruminating which in turn is making me more anxious. I know alcohol is going to make me feel more anxious but I just want to be able to switch off.

It's not the ideal solution at all I know it isn't. I don't plan on getting wasted
