Where are all the Vikings?

I’m talking about the Jorvik Viking Festival every February.

I used to take my little girl there and there was story telling, demonstrations, Nordic sword craftsmen, multiple venues, too many activities to do. But I was in York this year and there was hardly anything at all with very low presence.

Is this because no one wants to be a Viking and so the activities are limited or is it council funding cuts? It’s a sad outcome, whatever the reason.

Don’t know why this popped into my head on a Saturday morning.

Did you get the right week? February half-term are the ones which vary the most across the country. It might have happened when it wasn't "your" half term.

They’ve been driven out by marauding hen do’s.

It was the correct half term as there were a few stalls in Pavement and I saw a few Vikings process along High Petergate, but nothing special.

Very probably. I once saw a football match full of stags and hens take place along Coney Street.

All the Vikings are at Valhala Viking Fetsival. It’s amazing!

There’s an idea for a tv programme. ‘Hens VS Vikings’. What can horned helmets, excellent sailing skills and a talent for slashing and burning do against 30 aggressively-drunk women armed with penis-shaped straws, smashed Prosecco bottles and T-shirts that say ON IT TILL WE VOMIT?

I think the hens would win!
