Premier inn - 3 adults

Hi
A couple of my friends and I want to stay at a premier inn near Doncaster for a night in a couple of weeks. We would like one room - no kinky stuff - just to save ££s. However I can’t book a room for more than 2 adults - but I can book a family room for 2 adults & 2 kids. It doesn’t seem fair. What would you suggest?

If two of you go and check in, no-one will ever know. In fact checkin is often automated, though of course you shouldn't...

You can do a premier inn family room as 3 adults. We've done this as a group of friends before. No one checks.

Who did you say were staying?

True, but I don’t know if I’m brave enough to just stroll in by myself later!

We booked as two adults one child. They provided one double and one single bed.

And were you 3 adults?

Family rooms are one double and one very small single.

Can't you look for a cheaper option than Premier inn that offers single rooms?

Yes three adults. Did automated check in. No one cared. Stayed for 2 nights so would have been clear there were no children staying. It's fine.

WhereAreMyKids · 11/04/2025 18:20

Book for 2 adults and 2 kids. There will be two singles and a double. Make quick dibs 😅

They really ain't gonna care at check in and as pp said you can now use the automated check in at most places if you're worried.

I might try it if they had automated check in. Don’t know if they do. I would say the 3rd person was a visitor for breakfast.

I would except I like the cleanliness, the beds and the breakfasts at PI.

Premier Inns are cheap. Don't steal, OP, just be actual grown ups and book 2 rooms.

You are right. I know.

They really don’t pay much attention to who’s going in and out, most of the ones we use don’t even have more than one or two staff members and they’re often not on reception.
Book two people, get two key cards then once two of you have checked in the other person can come in alone.

You are massively over thinking this op.

Single has always been standard sized in the ones we stay in.

SheilaFentiman · 11/04/2025 18:30

They really will not notice, OP.

They aren’t that cheap any more, and I wouldn’t call it theft just being pragmatic. Mind you SIL took it a bit far once imho when she managed to have 5 adults in one room. I think as long as the people match the number of beds its not too off, and you normally check in online these days at one of their machines.

SheilaFentiman · 11/04/2025 18:31

Anyway, one person can check in and ask for two keys.

jambunny · 11/04/2025 18:32

You would need a sleeping bag though, as the sofa beds we’ve had in premier inn haven’t had any sheets etc.
Honestly OP, don’t worry about it - Premier inn make zillions and having one extra person sleeping in there is no skin off their nose whatsoever.

LarkspurLane · 11/04/2025 18:33

You could email them and ask if it is allowed?
Maybe ask at a different hotel, in case you decide to do it and don't want to be traced.
I can't think of anything worse than sleeping on a pull out bed for two nights - although I'd prefer that to sharing a double bed. Are you all keen to share?

Dairymilkisminging · 11/04/2025 18:35

Are yous going to share the double bed?

If you wanted a bed each the truckle bed isn't a single size so they say not fit for adult.

But yeah no one checks. Ask for two key cards and just go in later.

We even sometimes get people who do the whole we need extra sheets coz someone spilled something and they then make up the extra bed.

ruby2019missyou · 11/04/2025 18:44

Thanks all, for your helpful suggestions. Yes I am overthinking it! I can’t be the only person who has done this, ever.
I may report back!
