Do you have a side hustle?

I’m not trying to pinch ideas….well, maybe a bit 😂

My sister has a wee side hustle that’s she’s hoping to be able to do full time one day, selling brownies and cakes etc via mail order. It makes her so happy and I feel like I need some inspiration for a side hustle to give me a bit of cash and happiness.

I used to do a bit of hairdressing on the side, but I developed an allergy to colour!

I’m a holiday cat feeder. I love it. I know half the cats in the village now.

Oh that sounds good! Do you do that through an app?

Is that MLM? How much are you making from it? Thank you.

SeasaltPuppy · 15/07/2025 20:26

A charity shop near me sells bags of clothes for £2. You can’t pick what there is but it’s at least 20 items. I pop them on Vinted for £1-3 each, often turning that £2 into an average of £40

Wirdle · 15/07/2025 20:28

The travel agent is a total MLM 🙄

I have an etsy shop and also do some translation, you can earn 1k a year without needing to do a tax return.

PlutarchHeavensbee · 15/07/2025 20:30

I make Lampwork glass beads and sell them on Etsy. I do quite well - I’ve just had my 900th sale in just over a year.

LoveSandbanks · 15/07/2025 20:36

I don't have a side hustle but I'm due to retire in the.next 10 years. I can't imagine that I'll be able to be work free so I'm looking at either personal training (believe it or not there's quite a demand for "old" personal trainers) or bespoke bra making. You have to enjoy the side hustle.

femininomenon · 15/07/2025 20:38

I’m not sure it can quite be called a side hustle but makes me a few bob…when DP plays golf by himself on a weeknight rather than with a friend I go and walk the course with him collecting lost golf balls then sell them in bags of 20 on fb.

FeyreandRhysand · 15/07/2025 20:39

The travel thing is definitely MLM - stay away OP!

I have an Etsy shop, and earned £3,000 in December alone due to my products being gifts, however since then I’ve only made around £300 pm (which I know is still good, I just wish I could do it FT!)

Just don’t buy into the “Make passive income on Etsy by making digital download AI art/ by buying my course” because Etsy IS hard work and my digital downloads (not AI!!) probably account for about 3% of my sales.

Is there anything you’re particularly passionate about or good at that you could somehow weave into a side hustle?

mondaytosunday · 15/07/2025 20:47

I have a holiday lodge I let out. I have high park service charge so I only net, after cleaning and booking fees, about £3000/year.

Twelftytwo · 15/07/2025 20:59

Yep MLM alert! 🚨
No doubt there'll be others on the thread in due course!

I really want to start an Etsy store for digital downloads - quite niche area but I’m so put off by the £11ish fee now to open a store. I’m not new to digital downloads at all and sell on WooCommerce, gumroad etc but why am I put off by this measly £11? Please can you tell me to just go for it and I’ll take it as my sign 😂

I’m a travel agent, you cannot look after you clients properly as a ‘side hussle’ what do you do when your clients flights are cancelled and you are at work?

I'm not sure this would sit right with me.

Do you donate the profit you make back to the charity shop?

You could still cut hair without offering a colour service...

Pinkflower100 · 16/07/2025 12:21

I would love a side hustle but don’t have any talents so can’t think of anything I could do. I did wonder about becoming a nail tech but soooo many people do it in my area that I’m not sure I’d get any business.

Why would she? Lots of people upcycle furniture from charity shops, or bought cheaply online, and the profit is theirs.

The charity have set the initial price. They won’t be unaware of the existence of Vinted, but for whatever reason they don’t want to sell through there. No one is being scammed or anything.

Why should @makingpeacedo the charity shops work for them and then give them the proceeds? Daft!

Why, they’ve set their price that they’re happy to sell at, what happens after that is not related to them.
