Do you have a side hustle?

namechangenelly1 · 10/04/2025 19:57

I’m not trying to pinch ideas….well, maybe a bit 😂

My sister has a wee side hustle that’s she’s hoping to be able to do full time one day, selling brownies and cakes etc via mail order. It makes her so happy and I feel like I need some inspiration for a side hustle to give me a bit of cash and happiness.

I used to do a bit of hairdressing on the side, but I developed an allergy to colour!

Is that MLM? How much are you making from it? Thank you.

Or course it's MLM 😜😬

lechatnoir · 16/07/2025 14:38

I was looking for a side hustle earlier this year and am now a PT swimming teacher which I love. I currently only do one evening a week to supplement my income and get me away from a screen/be with people (main job fully remote & desk-bound) but have put in a request to reduce to 4 day week so I can pick up more swimming hours.

MistyGray · 16/07/2025 14:41

I've retrained as a counsellor and currently have a few clients of an evening. My main job is f/t but I earn as much from my side hustle as I do my main job. Cost me £8k to train though 😣

I'm not sure this would sit right with me.

Do you donate the profit you make back to the charity shop?

Don’t be ridiculous. The charity shop are choosing to sell the bags of clothes for £2. You can do what you want with them once you’ve bought them.

What’s good idea! Did it cost much to train? I’m not sure my swimming would be up to standard to teach it but may look into it.

I do 3 or 4 zoom researches a month...get paid between £50 and £250 for each one.

Would you mind inboxing me with the details? 😊

I'm assuming @wineoclockwarrior is talking about InteleTravel.

I'm a travel agent with Inteletravel and I do make a decent income from selling travel, but it's not a side hustle!!! It's a basically a full time school hours job for me (I.e. when my kids are at school, I'm working; and if they are off school for more than a week, I need to book childcare for them). And I have to be ready for clients to contact me at any time while they are away. To make a success of it requires hard work and patience; and it's really only worth it if you have a genuine passion for travel and travel planning.

NB. I don't really get involved with the MLM side of the business at all (I have only recruited one person - a friend who asked me about and I gave her my unedited honest view, which wasn't wholly complimentary!). If you look at the figures it's incredibly hard to make decent money from recruitment, and the way some agents market it is very misleading and bordering on exploitative. I would certainly not feel comfortable doing that!

In short, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is!!

Blondestripedlassie · 16/07/2025 15:23

Mine isn't a side hustle, but people seem to think I just do it for pocket money! I do home dog boarding for people who don't like kennels. It pays all my bills and I save over £1k a month too. No boss to answer to, no commute. I love it!

lechatnoir · 16/07/2025 15:39

@Pinkflower100 mine was funded by the local leisure centre who I’m tied to for 6 months or pay back the course cost which I think was about £400/500.

you obviously need to be able to swim, but you certainly don’t need to be an amazing swimmer - I won’t ever teach club level as I’m not technically confident or proficient enough but the course has taught me all I need for beginners & improvers and know I’m a good teacher at these levels and my technical knowledge is growing with experience and shadowing others, doing online training etc

go for it it’s really rewarding and pay isn’t bad either. There’s a couple of ladies 60+ who are doing this instead of ft retirement which I really admire and plan to follow!

Sounds fab. I can swim but not sure my technique is the greatest. Will def look into it as need a side hustle and sounds like a nice one!

Notmyreality · 16/07/2025 16:02

I’m sure this will be well received on here -
I’m on OnlyFans. I make around £1000/mth on top of my full time job with pretty minimal effort. This is after several years and I have quite a well established subscriber base and content backlog so doesn’t take much work these days. Just a few updates every few days.

Can you clarify what a Carol is, please? I've never heard that one before.

It's a song you sing at Christmas, ;)

Of course she doesn’t, it’s a side hustle.

There’s nothing wrong with it. If the charity wanted to sell on vinted, it would, but I imagine it’s not worth it to them.

PuzzlingRecluse · 16/07/2025 16:41

I do matched betting (generally £200 ish a month since I lost Ladbrokes coral 😭) surveys (£50-200 a month) , and have the thx app on my phone (which generates £10Amazon voucher every few weeks.)

surveys I use prolific & respondent, I’m not sure if they are taking on new users it’s hit & miss.

I also use cashback site like jam doughnut, top cashback, which all adds up.

happy to share referral links for thx & jam doughnut if anyone would like them.

i also follow the fun money club, who share hustle ideas etc

It is ridiculous to not accept that other people may well have a different POV to you.

How much time do you give to matched betting to get that return? Do you use one of the platforms for it (can't remember the names of them right now but I think there were 3 main ones when I looked it up)?

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 16/07/2025 16:51

Another matched better here - I normally earn somewhere in the £350-£650 monthly range depending on the month.
(NB. Matched betting is not gambling and done correctly is risk free).

EnglishGirlApproximately · 16/07/2025 16:54

@StaringAtTheWaterif you're doing ok with Inteke I'd seriously consider moving to a different homeworking host agency or consortia - you'll have far better commercial terms and a wider choice of suppliers. I'm not trying to recruit you to any other btw, I'm a supplier so have an external and neutral view of the varying models 😊

almondcroissantsatdawn · 16/07/2025 16:24

Where do you find those ?

I'm registered with about a dozen market research companies who send out emails of on FB regularly. I looked for them online...and search locally. I have a couple of local ones who know I'm good at pensions/ investment ones and call me up.
Made £3000 last year

Fairyliz · 16/07/2025 16:59

I’m another one who did matched betting and made £13k over 18 months spending about one hour a day on it. It was great until all the betting sites banned me which happens to everyone eventually.
That was about six years ago though and I understand it’s a lot harder now.

Hi

I use oddsmonkey (I also have a referral link for them if interested 🤩 ) I follow their guides, they do offer a free trial as do outplayed. I spend no more than a couple of hours a week on it, spread across the week. I’m getting quicker as I get used to it. I’d definitely recommend it, and tbh wish I’d started sooner. As long as you read & follow their guides you won’t lose money.

PuzzlingRecluse · 16/07/2025 17:01

I’ve made £7553 so far after around 18 months from matched betting.

You clearly don’t accept that the person who posted it has a different opinion to you. She said this is how she makes extra cash on the side and you asked her if she donated the money back to the charity.
