Hot enough for sleeveless dress in London tomorrow?

We’ve got sun up north but it’s cold!

As a 50 yr old woman I run hot and don’t want to get sweaty when walking around, and am thinking of a sleeveless linen dress, what do you think?

With a jacket, fine. Without, no. It's not that hot.

justasking111 · 10/04/2025 19:56

I wore one today in Wales with a pretty cardigan to hand. Or you could take a jumper.

Slowmoles · 10/04/2025 19:56

It's not that warm in London - there's been a chilly wind this week! Bring a cardigan/lightweight jacket

I’m glad I asked! I have an alternative outfit which would suit a jacket better so will go with that 👍👍

I saw topless men in Windsor. Not a good look.

Bjorkdidit · 10/04/2025 20:04

Have you accounted for the southern softie factor? Their 'not that warm' could well be your 'scorchio'

NuffSaidSam · 10/04/2025 20:10

It's been warm in London this week when the wind drops, you're in direct sunlight and it's the middle of the day.

Morning and evening, when the wind is up and in the shade it's been quite cold.

Vitrolinsanity · 10/04/2025 20:13

It’s 19 tomorrow. Utter bliss. Will still need a cardi in shade though.

Britneyfan · 10/04/2025 20:15

It’s warm enough during the day down here for me for that as someone similar who grew up in the North! And it’s predicted to get pretty warm over the next couple of days. I definitely think there is an element of “not that warm” here equating to a northern “scorchio”! But still a little cold in early morning/evening so I would bring a jacket or cardigan with you too. As long as you have a cardigan you’ll be totally fine in that and boiling in anything warmer I think!

mustytrusty · 10/04/2025 20:23

I was in London last weekend - 20 degree weather. Fine in the daytime but colder the minute the sun goes down. Had my denim jacket and that was enough with a tee shirt.

Sofiewoo · 10/04/2025 20:23

It’s definitely not short sleeve linen dress weather. London was cold until about 5pm and even then it was mild not hot.

marmitegirl01 · 10/04/2025 20:38

There has been a bitter wind for days here.Even in the sun. Definitely layer up.

tillyandmilly · 10/04/2025 20:39

I was wearing my boots , cord trousers and puffa coat today on the south coast definitely not wearing summer clothes for at least another month !

mondaytosunday · 10/04/2025 20:44

Forecast is 20, which will be lovely in the sun but chillier in the shade. I think you need a cardi.

GeorgeMichaelsCat · 10/04/2025 20:46

It ain't warm here for a standard person.

Plump82 · 10/04/2025 20:49

Oh no!! I'm traveling to London on Saturday and was planning on a dresses for the day and evening and it showing 21 - 23 on various apps? Now I am in the West Coast of Scotland so anything about 15 is warm but I hope I don't freeze. I will have a denim jacket with me.

CatsLikeBoxes · 10/04/2025 20:55

Central London is forecast to be 22-23⁰ tomorrow and even the "feels like" temp is 19⁰ so depends whether you'll be out early or late as it's still going to feel chillier then. But I think it's meant to be warmer than it's felt all this week. So i vote for sleeveless would be fine but bring a cardigan. Unless you feel chilly unless the temp tops 25⁰.

Notjustabrunette · 10/04/2025 21:01

I was in London today, was cold in the shade.

Notjustabrunette · 10/04/2025 21:01

I agree. But tomorrow is supposed to be 5⁰ warmer

Bjorkdidit · 11/04/2025 04:42

Well I'm going south from Yorkshire today and will be wearing cropped trousers, a tshirt and a thin hoodie that I fully expect will spend most of its time in my bag, going by the forecast. Will report back later.

Theolittle · 11/04/2025 06:17

Thanks for all your responses. I felt ready for almost everything in my outfit - except what I’m now doing - I’m driving to the station and defrosting my car windscreen before I set off!

Feeling glad I didn’t go for the sleeveless dress!

MoneyBall1 · 11/04/2025 06:50

I’m still wearing a coat on the way to work and back because the temp drops quite quickly once the sun is down! But it’s glorious in the sun. You could definitely be sleeveless in the middle of the day walking around but take a few more layers for later. Hope you have a lovely time.

Trumpsgoneloco · 11/04/2025 06:57

It's jumper weather for me here

Plump82 · 11/04/2025 08:00

@Bjorkdidit & @Theolittle keep this thread updated! I'm not leaving till tomorrow so still have a chance to change what's packed.
