Scammers robbing people blind

WARNING! Got home today & DH on phone to bank - scammer robbed him of more than £20K😱 He had a call 2 days ago from bank saying someone had tried to make a payment of £400 to Argos. I DID say to call bank back & not speak to person calling, but it sent him into a spin & he continued the call . Turns out this was the scammers. Didn't ask for all his bank details, but he was on phone for over 2 hours speaking to 3 different people & probably during that time they managed to get the info out of him - you know one asks for numbers 5, 8 & 10, another for 1, 3 & 8 etc.

I take no pride in being right - he should have called the bank on their official number & now he's beating himself up for being so gullible. Hopefully he will get the money back & lesson learned - well 2 lessons: 1. call bank back & 2. LISTEN TO ME!😉

Oh dear. Well he has been a fool, but he knows it now and will feel awful, so there's no point in making him feel worse.

Has all this been reported to the police?

Thank you for your message. After a sleepless night, this afternoon he got a call from the bank. This time he rang them back on their fraud number. confirmed he will get the money back.

He's showing symptoms of forgetfulness & other signs (I've posted about this previously) & I'm storing this up to discuss with GP in our appointment after Easter. We've also discussed with his daughter about her having POA with me if things get worse. He doesn't drive anymore (his choice) when he had an accident which was totally his fault when he was in the wrong lane on a junction.
