Car hire Manchester airport

I need to rent a car for one week from Manchester airport. I want one where I can buy full cover from the company, ie when I give the car back they won't start inspecting everything with a magnifying glass. Any recommendations?

I often hire at Manchester airport. I'd stick with the companies in the car hire village or Hertz which is at a nearby hotel. They all offer full cover. It's usually worth booking through one of the online car hire brokers because they will often offer more favourable cancellations terms and a better price.

Based on reviews, I'd avoid Green Motion.

Thanks @franke . I've just had a look and the brokers are definitely cheaper, but there is no option of additional cover. Do you know how much it costs at the desk to add this on? On the enterprise website you can add it it for £20 per day, would it be the same price at the desk?

I always get the impression that it's much more expensive to book direct. Before I posted earlier I did a dummy booking with rentalcars.com (or something) and you could add on the extra insurance further into the booking process. I'd do a price comparison. £20 extra a day seems quite reasonable though.

The other option is to take out separate car hire zero excess insurance but then you'd have the hassle of making a claim if anything happened. It is much cheaper though.

If I were renting a car from Manchester Airport for a week, I’d go with a big company like Enterprise, Avis, or Hertz. They all offer full coverage (Super CDW/Full Protection), so you don’t have to worry about them inspecting every tiny scratch when you return it. I’d just book the top insurance option and make sure to take photos of the car from every angle—makes the whole experience so much more relaxed and stress-free.

Book with one of the big name companies. They will be more expensive than the local outfits but they won't try to screw you for a minute scratch you can't even see without a mangifying glass.
