I am, it looks brilliant.

I wonder what rides and lands they will have. People seem to think Jurassic Park. Lisa Nandy seems to think it will have Harry Potter which some people thought was unlikely because of Warner Brothers Studio being nearby.

Boohoo76 · 09/04/2025 10:30

I think this is great news for the country if it goes ahead. With the recent reports that construction is contracting a sector, we desperately need major infrastructure projects.

topcat2014 · 09/04/2025 10:33

My first thought was - 2031 will be the year I turn 60. eeek

Second thought - I have no real concept of where Bedford actually is.

Do the chimneys still operate near Stewartby? If so, May make the air fragrant at times (f the smell travels that far).

HarperStern · 09/04/2025 10:36

This sounds great, funnily enough I was just wondering the other day why all the good theme park attractions are south and/or west of London. This is a great location for it.

HarperStern · 09/04/2025 10:37

(Obviously I mean theme parks easily reachable from London, not dissing Alton Towers etc).

FionnulaTheCooler · 09/04/2025 10:39

I wonder if it will be open year round or close for the winter season like many UK theme parks. Universal Orlando seems to have a lot of indoor attractions so hopefully this one will be the same and be able to open even in bad weather. I really hope there is a Harry Potter land.

EVHead · 09/04/2025 10:39

I hope they have a Harry Potter section!

HarryVanderspeigle · 09/04/2025 10:41

I am excited. Would rather go to the Singapore one, but this is considerably easier and cheaper.

@Elephantofsurprise I think Harry Potter is so popular that there is room for 2 attractions fairly close. The studio tour doesn't have rides, so different things.

elastamum · 09/04/2025 10:43

The brickworks have been closed for years. It's great for the local economy and also well positioned re the M1 and train lines.

HorrorFan81 · 09/04/2025 11:07

Oh i definitely think they will have Harry Potter. The studio tour is amazing but completely different to the Universal stuff. At the moment in Florida they will have three different HP areas once epic Universe opens so lots to choose from. I suspect they would go for Hogsmede / Hogwarts as its so iconic

Boohoo76 · 09/04/2025 11:21

It’s going to depend on whether Warner Bros give them a licence for Harry Potter (and how much they are going to charge them). It’s not as simple as Universal wanting to include it.

LadyMary50 · 09/04/2025 11:28

I went to Stewartby school early 60s,bussed in from Wootton.I think this is great for the area especially Bedford town which definitly needs some money pumped into it.

Anjo2011 · 09/04/2025 11:33

Brilliant. I think the benefits far outweigh any negatives.

SweetBaklava · 09/04/2025 11:39

Cannot wait! The HP studios is nothing like Universal - completely different experience, ie no rides (much to my nephews disappointment who thought it would be like Disney!!)

Gettingbysomehow · 09/04/2025 11:40

Good thing I moved, that's right near my old house. The noise and traffic would be horrendous.

WhiskyandWater · 09/04/2025 11:41

I think it’s great but they really really need to sort the M1 out, traffic is always horrendous.

IdLikeThingToSpiralIntoControl · 09/04/2025 11:45

Brilliant, because I know I will never make it over to Florida again due to travel insurance costs.

We are doing Florida again this year but its likely to be the last trip for a long time so its great to have a local option to look forward to.

My kids will be mid to late teens once open so could be perfect summer jobs

Ill be looking out for opportunities too, the field I work in is quite niche and they are likely to need people with the expertise I have so you never know!

Yeah thats the biggest thing for me. Need to sort the infrastructure and transport out

I’d prob not want to live next door but it’s great news generally

I’m not a Disney fan but have had a great time at Universal in the US and also Osaka.

Im 25 minutes away which seems perfect distance to me 😃

Yeah I've always preferred universal to disney

Really hoping there’s Potter! It’s only about an hour from the Warner Studios so I imagine a lot of people would do both.

HorrorFan81 · 09/04/2025 16:48

One of the news reports just said there will be 4 themed areas. Obviously no info on what they will be yet

Im hoping for a velocicoaster style ride its absolutely amazing

Assume they will probably focus on indoor stuff given the weather tho??
