Three periods in 5 weeks

After after some advice whilst I wait for a GP appointment.

I've always had short-ish cycles, 24 days approx. However, my last two cycles have been 13 days and 16 days so I'm having about a week between bleeds. I'm exhusted, they are heavy and painful and just annoying.

My GP gave me norethisterone for the first one, which did eventually stop my period. I can't have it again apparently.

My ferritin is almost non-existant. I've got some iron tablets from Boots whilst I wait to be presecribed something sooner.

My GP hasn't offered any ideas as to why this is happening. Any ideas?

How old are you? Perimenopause is an obvious answer if you’re around that age.

I'm 34. A bit young for perimenopause, I think.

I read somewhere that low ferritin can actually cause heavy/prolonged periods. So maybe itst a catch22 situation?
what is your ferritin and hemoglobin now? I think when both are low you apply for iron infusion.

I would also want to investigate the cause of the frequent periods if this keeps happening the next 2-3 cycles especially if supplementing iron didnt do the trick.
