Anyone been to the Buckingham palace garden party? Can you answer a few questions please…

Incredibly lucky to have been invited to one of the garden parties at Buckingham Palace this summer for ‘services to the community’ and travelling down with my friend and colleague.

Work are paying our train fare and we had hoped to potentially stay over but it’s the day before I go on holiday so no can do.

For those that have been before, can I ask is there a cloak room or place to store bags? I’m thinking I don’t want to travel all that way in my dress and heels so thinking of changing at Kings Cross before grabbing a taxi. If I do this, will I be able to take a travel bag and store it somewhere at the event?

Been to a Queen’s garden party before, though not at Buckingham Palace admittedly.
There were no storage facilities or cloakrooms.

You will be in the garden only, with access to the palace cordoned off.

Could you use storage lockers by the train station?

Nope, no storage.

I would also rethink the heels - it’s a lot of standing around, a fair amount of walking and queuing (obviously you don’t have to walk around once you’re in but it’s a nice opportunity to explore!), and if it has been wet then the ground is very, very soft.

There is nowhere to store them and even if there was you won't be allowed to go in with large bags - it would be a security nightmare. Look at left luggage facilities at the station.

The garden is mostly grass. Heels sink.

Leave it at left luggage at St Pancras.

No storage.

Leave items at left luggage BUT bear in mind they count each bag as 1, so if you have say a bag or suit carrier and a separate bag for shoes classes as 2 items.

Lots of standing around so def dont put heels on until last minute!
