Should ds have a phone .

Just wanting general opinions regarding mobiles phone for a 10 year old.

The rules for a phone at school is they hand it in as they walk through the gate . They then collect it as they leave school. So theres no access to it at all.

I collect ds from school. So theres no traveling alone. He doesn't go out with friends at the weekend or after school. So he's either at school or at home.

He is autistic and has learning difficulties so he can't send messages or read them.

So my question is . Is there really much point in him having a phone.

What are your reasons for even considering this issue?

There’s no point in a phone but you might want to AirTag his bag if you want to know his location ?

Why does he need it then?

I'm not its his father we don't live together so I don't have control over it. But I just wondered people's opinion. He's going to get him one regardless. But I just wasn't sure if I was goung mad . Like is there something I have missed.
