Delivery afternoon teas

It is my mum’s 80th birthday coming up and we are planning a family meal, when everyone can get together, but on the actual day I am going to pop over and see her to celebrate.

I was thinking of one of the afternoon teas at home that you can get delivered and there seems to be a lot of choice, with all the photos looking wonderful. So I thought I would ask on here if anyone has tried the different companies and if they have any recommendations (or ones to avoid!).

I sent my mum one from the Cornish tea company and she said it was nice.

JamesWebbSpaceTelescope · 07/04/2025 10:44

Thank you. Their photos do look good and I like there are a few different options.

morrisons do one which serves 2 for £12 easy to pick up on your way and you can preorder. That’ll have been made fresh that day rather than the day before

Is there any local cafe/tra rooms near you that do them? We have lots near us who cater for this kind of thing.

I don’t live that close by so don’t know any cafes etc…in the area but I will check it out.

Morrisons is also interesting.

Is there is a Facebook group for the area I would ask on there. I found the big company ones to be average as they have to travel and aren’t fresh but the little bakery can be amazing and reasonably priced too.

Forgottenmyphone · 07/04/2025 11:58

We liked the one from Tiptree best because it’s such good value for the amount you get, and everything was individually wrapped so very fresh.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/04/2025 11:58

My mum would tell me off for not baking the scones myself 😂.........

What does she like ? Scones and sandwiches with a fruit cake or the more patisserie style ? Some of the Afternoon Tea in London hotels look like works of art !

I've sent Delimann hampers to lots of people in the past and everyone has been very complimentary, they quite often have discount offers/codes on selected ones

Bluevelvetsofa · 07/04/2025 12:23

Piglet’s Pantry do them.

AdaColeman · 07/04/2025 12:25

The Marks and Spencer afternoon tea hampers I've had have all been very nice. They are a selection of cakes, scones and biscuits, but no sandwiches, so you would have to add your own sandwiches.

TomatoSandwiches · 07/04/2025 12:27

I second the Cornish Tea company.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 07/04/2025 13:09

I have used Devon Heaven successfully in the past.

Betty's do a lovely one, but you need provide your own cream.

Rosecoffeecup · 07/04/2025 13:15

I've received the Cutler and Squidge box a couple of times and it was lovely, but I'd second the suggestion to ask on a local Facebook group for any recs of local bakers - I think you're likely to get better value and a fresher product

Tomatotater · 07/04/2025 13:20

We sent the Cornish tea Co hampers to both mums for mother's day. They both really liked them! I've done Piglets Pantry before too which I've liked. You can get a Groupon voucher for those.

Patisserie Valerie

Peabody25 · 07/04/2025 16:18

@JamesWebbSpaceTelescope if your mum happens to live near or in Leeds, there’s a really nice local one I can recommend.

BeaLola · 07/04/2025 17:20

Why not sY the area on here and any local MN may be able to recommend a really good local option

Trying81 · 07/04/2025 17:22

Definitely find somewhere local.

What area?

Pootle40 · 07/04/2025 17:25

Can recommend Cutter and Squidge - beautiful afternoon tea. Also have used Piglet’s pantry for gifts and received good feedback.

JamesWebbSpaceTelescope · 07/04/2025 17:29

She is in the Bedhampton/ Leigh Park area of Havant. We will be coming from Southampton direction. Thank you all.

I second Patisserie Valerie absolutely delicious comes packed in dry ice with tea, scones, jam and cream as well as small cakes really worth the money!

Tooty78 · 07/04/2025 17:33

Put a shout out on your local FB page for recommendations, this seems a popular thing on ours.

JamesWebbSpaceTelescope · 07/04/2025 17:36

I don’t use Facebook.

I also suggest The Cornish Company - I’ve sent vegan ones and dairy versions and all the people I’ve sent them to have loved them. Hope to try myself soon!
