Please help, what’s wrong with my skin?

I haven’t been to a GP yet and just trying to deal with it myself but it’s not getting better.

I have “smooth” red spots on just one side of my face, I’m mid 30s and never had acne but I feel like this could be it,

Please help, what’s wrong with my skin?

Could it be from your pillow?

Overtheatlantic · 06/04/2025 20:29

Is it warm or itchy?

Overtheatlantic · 06/04/2025 20:30

Also, does it track with hormone levels?

I change the bedding at least once a week and haven’t changed what capsule I use.

Also haven’t changed my skin care or makeup.

I’ve actually starting putting no makeup on it at all now and still no change. So frustrating.

Following as I’ve just started with similar. Have you used a retinol product?

Neither as of now, but maybe slightly itchy when it first appeared.

It’s been like this for over a month and had a period between then and it didn’t change before, during or after it.

Is it itchy? Is it sore if you apply your face products?

my skin suddenly changed in my late 20s and looks a bit like this - tends to flare up more with stress or looming period.

Try to get hold of some aloe Vera gel or pure coconut oil if you can, it’ll soothe any soreness

Is that the side you put your phone to?

I’ve used tretinoin for maybe 18 months. It’s worked amazingly.

I’ve continued using it as I read it treats acne but I’m not 100% sure that’s what developed.

I also started taking antihistamines each day ( get really bad hay fever but so far this year I’ve been fine) and STILL no change.

I wondered if mine was caused by:
-retinol or resurfacing products being too strong
-hormone changes due to age
-hormone changes due to weight loss. Nothing drastic but I’m in a cut phrase after a long bulk.

I’ve always had the clearest of skin, so very confused by this change.

We have a lot of similarities.

My skin has always been pretty clear, I’m closing in on 4 stone weight loss, and like I said I use tret- but I did build up to it. Just very frustrating, as I feel like I’m fixing one problem and it creates a new problem.

Look up perioral dermatitis - could be this.
