Has anyone got the flu-like/COVID type thing atm - how is it making you feel?

DD17 went to a party last Friday. On Sunday she started to feel like she had a cold coming and by Wednesday she was feeling rough so I picked her up early from college.

She's a few days ahead of me (I came down with it on Thursday). She has a rotten cough, sweats buckets throughout the night with aches and had a one off feeling of nausea with acid.

I feel like shit. Haven't slept since Wednesday night because I'm burning up each night (temperature goes back to normal throughout the day). Woke up Thursday morning and ached in every joint and muscle, had a one off episode of diarrhoea on Thursday afternoon but since then my guts feel really off and I have constant acid/nausea. Felt like I needed to throw up on Thursday night but nothing happened. Every time I try to eat I feel so nauseous and acid pools in my throat. I do have IBS so I suppose it's my weak spot but it's making me feel awful, feel like I have a ball of barbed wire sitting in my stomach

DD has discovered that many of her mates from the party have come down with it but weirdly only their parents are experiencing the nausea/vomiting.

I'm so exhausted, pissed off and desperate for it to go away.

My poor mum has Alzheimer's and I help my dad to care for her, obviously I'm not able to atm but she's going into respite care next week, for the first time and I was going to go along and support my dad when we take mum as he's very teary about the whole thing. Now I can't as I can not risk passing this on. Bloody sod's law 😥

I’ve had a really heavy cold and the most horrendous cough. Waking up sweating like mad but didn’t have the stomach upset. My throat felt extremely hot and weird as well. The cough drove me mad, constantly coughing all through the night and barely sleeping. Mine lasted about a week and not as bad as some I’ve heard of. The cough is a lot better but still there but not so violent as it was.

My daughter's cough is really awful too. I am hoping it won't last too long.

I am just getting over a virus i had for a month, was awful for nearly 3 weeks, couldn't do anything, could just about walk to kitchen or to the bathroom. Shivers, aches, migraines then got cough, horrendous cold, sinus issue. Still dont feel right a month later, left with breathing issues still and full of cold/sinus.

Didn't have sickness but felt queasy a lot, possibly due to crazy amount of Painkillers.

Covid cases are high at the moment.

Para flu is going round

ParadiseLaundry · 05/04/2025 15:58

This absolutely must be the same thing I had a few weeks ago as I had all the same symptoms you describe and they're quite an odd range of symptoms. I was in bed for a week and it took me 2 weeks to feel better again and I'm never ill. It was way worse for me than Covid.

I hope you all feel better soon Flowers

I feel dreadful, just had diarrhoea again, have a painful feeling like a brick is lodged in my stomach, no idea why I have this as a symptom. Don't think I've felt this rotten in ages. Even the two times I've had COVID.

It's really annoying because one moment I feel as though I'm on the mend then I go downhill again, temperature up then down and vice versa.

The sooner this buggers off the better.

I’m hit with this at the moment. Been ill since Tuesday, started off with intense headache, ear ache and sore throat. I’ve been bed bound for days due to aches and pains and fever. Vomiting and diarrhoea started Thursday evening whenever I try and eat anything. I’ve given up trying to eat now. Today I’ve got pain all across my stomach. Never had an illness that covers so many symptoms. Took a strep a and Covid test to rule those out but both came back negative. Hoping it doesn’t last too much longer.

TokyoSushi · 05/04/2025 17:38

Yes!!! 2 weeks now, started with diarrhoea for about 3 days, now constant nausea, sick about once per day, stomach is burning - definitely understand the barbed wire reference, feel really ill, just awful!

PollyCreo · 05/04/2025 17:49

I had what you described in January after a trip to the UK. It was horrendous and I was wiped out for over a week. Took antihistamines, painkillers and Night Nurse. Also an inhaler from the GP which cleared up the cough in a few days.

Now got a milder version of it so dosing up on the same things, hope you feel better soon OP.

Mintymatchmakerheaven · 05/04/2025 17:59

Three weeks in here. Started off with swollen glands, temperature, cough, no appetite then diarrhea. Have had a headache for a week and now have runny nose, sore throat and can't stop sneezing. I feel lousy

This sounds exactly what I have, it's the full English breakfast of viruses, everything included!

I'm just going to stick to liquids, I don't have the energy to go back and forth to the loo. Just gulped down some pepto Bismol in the hope it'll settle my stomach.

I hope you feel better soon Flowers

Well I spoke to soon about not having the sickness and diarrhoea with the cold and cough. Started to feel really sick last night about 9 o’clock, by 10 o’clock I was being sick.. I don’t understand this virus, I was feeling so much better then this hit me.

We must definitely have the same rotten virus.

I had the 💩 again last night and felt so nauseous but had been fine on Friday. Yesterday boiling hot and freezing cold and aching all over and now today I have cold like symptoms on top, sore throat, runny nose and hacking cough. It's really bizarre. It's throwing everything at me.

I do hope you feel better soon.
