I just peaked at middle class wankerism

At a farm café... naturally. And daughter is on special diet, so she was eating her packed lunch. And she went to eat her apple ...I found my self saying "oh darling, let me wash your apple, it's got brioche crumbs all over it"

What a dick I am 🤣

I don't understand what's apple and brioche crumbs got to do with class, middle or not... working class ppl eat them too, royals eat them too...or do you mean only middle class people like to eat crumbless apples?

QuirkInTheMatrix · 05/04/2025 14:27

Do people really say brioche out loud when talking about a bread roll? Can’t say I ever need to specify what type of bread roll crumbs they are, I’d just have said crumbs, or maybe bread crumbs. And to be honest with a Dd with coeliac disease washing the crumbs off an apple wouldn’t be good enough…if your Dd needs to avoid bread OP you need to be really careful with cross contamination.

I'm fortunate enough to have access to a nice bakery. The croissants are lovely but my teen daughter prefers filled croissants ie almond, chocolate/almond ones. At a push she will eat the usual sort IE plain, flaky ones. And on a recent school trip she was visiting a place near me so I bought her lunch. She went back to her friends with a Wagama lunch.

Edited

I just ate applewood smoked cheddar and sliced tomato grilled panini, with geetas mango and chilli chutney. I live within walking distance of three Waitrose, but no cafes that I actually like. My daughter always buys sushi when she’s out and about, as her go to food. I don’t usually carb load, because I try not to spike my blood sugar. But I bloody love crisps.

I hated myself when I caught myself messaging DH to tell him I'd just ordered 2 le crueset spoon rests.

Eh? It was clearly a huge event in your life, if you felt the need to message your husband about it!
Why not just own that, instead of thinking it screams middle class (hardly) and pretending to "hate" yourself for it?

Really not much of a humble brag. Eating an apple in a farm shop. You need to raise your sights.

It's not farm shop. It's farm café. Literally a café on a working farm

We need to accept Diversity and embrace linguistic variations. Othering those that aren’t the same as us creates division.

Didn't they win one of those talent(less) shows a few years back?

Brioche and bread are quite different. Brioche is sweet and ruins hamburgers.

This! It’s not a behaviour to be proud of, that’s for sure

I see the fun sponges are out in force.

Yep, hilarious. 🤔Unless she's got coeliac and reacts badly to wheat.
Which is nothing to do with being middle class.

Yes.

It's one of the acceptable versions of hate speech on MN, these are a few I won't enumerate in case someone dobs me up to HQ but I'm sure we all know what they are!

Tough crowd op...

It's fine. I'm hardy.

Ignore the miserable ones, life is much more fun this way 😂

Oh, it's all fecking bread. As evidenced by people shoving their burgers in it 😁

Haha! I know what you mean. My friend accidentally scratched her babies nose getting an organic pineapple into a shopping bag as the baby was in a forwards facing sling. Middle class injury. Hahaha.

Proper middle class spelling would be baby's (not babies) though.

I recently found myself saying to my DD in the supermarket "this is just ridiculous, it's the second time they don't have any sourdough"

I hate myself

Oh god the thought. Working class folk eat brioche as well as sour dough. Hell, they might even actually make it.

Working class people can’t spell.

ginasevern · 05/04/2025 14:34

Giving directions to someone once I told him the place he needed was just past Waitrose, not far from the Native American Art collective and then left at D'Affinage artisan cheese shop. Probably the most middle class references I've ever crammed into one sentence.

Iwanttoshopnow · 05/04/2025 14:34

what's middle class ?

the apple?
lunchbox?
special diet?
brioche?
farm cafe?

You've got me stumped.

Coffeeishot · 05/04/2025 14:35

Comedycook · 05/04/2025 12:24

Gooseberry and cinnamon yoghurt 😂

And a coca cola 😂

It’s still a type of bread, I agree it’s not a very nice type of bread! 😁. I’m off to have avocado on sourdough for a late lunch, aka avocado on toast 😁

You could have removed middle class from the post. First class wankerism, nowt posh about eating an apple love.

No , you don't understand. It was a Pink Lady.

No, proper middle class spelling would be babies' noses

You can't share a nose but you must have an apostrophe.
