Good places to live for retired woman into tai chi, therapies etc

Name changed for this. Posting on behalf of a relative who is recently widowed, late sixties, has lived around the world and wants to live in a place back here that is less conventional/has lots of alternative therapy practitioners (that's what she does still and feels it means there would be likeminded people), has green space (not a big city) and independent shops and cafes.

Vaguely near an airport with flights to Europe although that's not an absolute essential.

Ideas please!

Interesting about Frome as that had crossed my mind as a potential place.
Keep the ideas coming! Brilliant response so far, thank you!

Lancaster.

nocoolnamesleft · 04/04/2025 19:44

Totnes does kind of leap to mind.

Tootjaskoot · 04/04/2025 19:44

Hebden Bridge or Brighton

menopausalmare · 04/04/2025 19:44

Bristol/South West

HannahDefoesSpringFling · 04/04/2025 19:45

Glastonbury?

Goldenbear · 04/04/2025 19:45

Brighton is quite a young demographic, it has a much lower percentage than the average in that age range, I'm not sure if it feels inclusive in that sense.

Goldenbear · 04/04/2025 19:46

I'd say Lewes is more balanced for ages demographics and things on your list.

ramonaquimby · 04/04/2025 19:55

Lewes

HannahDefoesSpringFling · 04/04/2025 20:14

Titnes and Stroud came to mind but people have suggested those

HannahDefoesSpringFling · 04/04/2025 20:15

Totnes of course!
