Trapped wind help

Cosyvibes · 03/04/2025 22:52

Mumsnetters I need your wisdom please 🙏 my stomach is really distended and it feels like my body is going to burst. I am full of wind.

Any quick action remedies?

Think it was because I was sitting for hours today and stupidly had a can of cola. Don't usually drink fizzy juice because it doesn't agree with me. I've currently got a hot water bottle on my back, I went out for a half hour walk earlier to try and get things moving which only resulted in a tiny burp. I've also lay flat on my stomach for ten minutes which done nothing.

Have you drank some warm water? A bath can sometimes help me too! Trapped wind can be awful can’t it!! Hope you sort it soon!

BananaPalm · 03/04/2025 22:55

Grab some windeze tablets. They should do the trick.

Cosyvibes · 03/04/2025 22:57

Honestly don't want to be a drama lama but it's like early labour 🙄 not tried warm water have been sipping on cold tap water. Cosy in pjs don't want to faff around with a bath but will definitely keep it in mind. Thanks @thismummyslife

Go on all fours, knees, calves and elbows on the floor.
Slowly raise your bum up,and hold it there for a bit.
You'll probably release some wind.

I don't have any where to get them unfortunately. Will get some next time at shops and bung in medicine bag for the future. Thanks for your suggestion 😊

Cycle your legs like you do with babies when they have wind?

Lupinhere37 · 03/04/2025 23:03

Lie on your left side with knees drawn up towards your chest. Lying on your front won’t help as you need to move the gas through your intestines.

WinterNightStars · 03/04/2025 23:04

Peppermint tea & lie on left side, gentle clockwise massage of tummy

Cosyvibes · 03/04/2025 23:05

Will have a rummage see if we have peppermint tea. Will try all the moves.

I used to find doing a handstand was quite effective!

Angelchick1971 · 03/04/2025 23:09

Tonic water.

Needspaceforlego · 03/04/2025 23:10

Warm tea, whatever tea bags you have.

Defender90 · 03/04/2025 23:11

Lie on your left side and hitch your knees up a bit toward chest, gently rock back and forth.

May your wind be free!

PickAChew · 03/04/2025 23:11

No idea how old you are but if you have a little one then colic relief contains simeticone, the same active ingredient as windeze.

Drink plenty, warm best but cold if you can't face it.

Google yoga moves for trapped wind.

Stand with your back pressed flat against a wall and do those kegels.

Put your fingers in the middle of your belly, above your navel and massage in a circular motion.

Cosyvibes · 03/04/2025 23:14

@Angelchick1971 I have diet tonic water. I also have pink gin but couldn't face that just now.

@BatchCookBabe I would probably end up in a&e 🤣 not done a handstand for over 30 years.

Oh - the most failsafe one. Find a quietish shop. Stand next to the only other customer. Reach for something on the top shelf.

Lengthy emission of all that gas guaranteed 🫢

Cosyvibes · 03/04/2025 23:23

Just had some tonic water and three little burps came out. Will finish the glass then have some sort of tea.

I had a little bit of trapped wind a few weeks ago but a walk sorted that out. I was reading in peri menopause you can get excess wind. Will save this thread incase I need it again in the future. Thanks so much everyone for your tips much appreciated 💐
