It's rainy and dark outside... What's your go to comfort snack?

I just had a hot chocolate and marmite toast. It's like a nostalgia punch to the face because it was my favourite thing to have when I was reading my Famous Five books as a child. The sweet and salty contrast is just DIVINE.

What's your most comforting comfort snack?

Toast with loads of lurpak and marmalade and a cup of tea with 2 sugars. I only have tea occasionally and I look forward to it.

henlake7 · 03/04/2025 22:04

Actually the hot chocolate and marmite toast sounds pretty perfect to me!
But I do also love my toast with butter and jam as well.

ChopstickNovice · 03/04/2025 22:07

Earl grey tea and dark chocolate digestives.

HangingOver · 03/04/2025 22:08

I like Earl Grey but weirdly only fancy it about once every 7 years.

I have a rare loaf of tiger bread. I don't eat bread very often because its just me here and the bread goes stale. Needless to say, I keep slicing off huuuuuge slices and slathering in butter. Problem is, is that I'm almost out of butter now!

My Nan always referred to dark rainy days as “tea and toast” days

FuckYouTony · 03/04/2025 22:10

A bowl of mash and gravy.

Yes i am bloody disgusting I know

PullTheBricksDown · 03/04/2025 22:12

Cheese on toast. The perfect bad weather easy food.

mamaduckbone · 03/04/2025 22:16

Crumpets dripping with butter and just a smear of marmite, with a big mug of strong Yorkshire tea.

Can't beat a warm buttery toast & tea 😋 sometimes with strawberry jam

Pieceofskyplease · 03/04/2025 22:27

I had an evening croissant with cherry jam last night. Still fresh. It was fabulous

Although that comes a close second

Stilton and tons of crackers,
parma ham/proscuttio just straight from the packet,
ice cold can of Pepsi max.

pizzaHeart · 03/04/2025 22:32

Toast with lots of butter and strong cheddar. Black tea.

Haha I used to feel like that about Frosties and milk 😂 hate milk and don’t like wet and dry foods touching and making everything soggy but every 7 or so years I would really crave a bowl of Frosties with ice cold milk! Think I only ever tried it once but very occasionally the pining used to hit 😂 not had thoughts about them For years and now I’m just pondering eating them!

HowToChangeWays · 03/04/2025 22:32

Tea and toast. Marmite is my favourite however partial to Nutella

Scutterbug · 03/04/2025 22:34

Cheese, ham and ketchup toastie!

Jane958 · 04/04/2025 12:28

I don't snack, dreadful habit.
Depending on the time of day, I would either have lunch or, if the sun would be over the yardarm, have a single malt whisky.
Generally, though, I don't cheer myself up with food. I might do some ironing, listen to music, play the piano or watch something or even read a book.

Ooo get you 🙄

PyrannosaurusRex · 04/04/2025 14:22

The day I ‘cheer myself up with ironing’ is the day my friends can tenderly shoot me.

But you come onto threads about snacks and post about not eating them.
