I hadn’t realised it was today that Netanyahu was in Washington. For some reason I thought it was TBC. They’re going to have a “big beautiful news conference” Hmm

Yep, 7:30pm, I dread to think what awaits…

They’ve cancelled the main news conference and will be holding a smaller one in the Oval Office instead. From what I can gather it’s to have greater control over which reporters get access and can ask questions.

I didn’t sign up for this.

Oh yes you did.

I wanted reform, not cruelty. Strength, not delusion. I’ve been a lifelong republican, and I know I’m not the only one starting to feel this way. We need to seriously ask ourselves: is this what we voted for, or just what we’ve been sold? It is hard to not feel conned. And I’m angrier than I’ve been in as long as I can remember.

You won. Get over it.

See, this is a lot of what I feel. It's a classic case of "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me".

He tried a lot of this shit during his first term, albeit in smaller ways and using 'different' methods. But he made it pretty clear he didn't give a damn about anything or anyone except himself and his bank balances. He loved creating chaos. WE SAW IT, SO DID THEY. As long as it didn't affect them, all was great and he was a hero. They just didn't care because they felt they'd never be touched by any of it. All these whiners are now soooo shocked that he doesn't give a shit about them, either.

We're all going to suffer, maybe for years to come. But I'll save my sympathies for those who didn't vote for this shit show.

So to all the 'Betrayed By Trump' and 'Leopards Ate My Face' whiny ass bitches; Fuck you, the horse you rode in on, and the stable you're keeping it at.

I think we can 100% guarantee there will be no media outlets there to ask about the recent slaughter of paramedics.

Don & Netanyahu on now, they’ve been discussing the ‘very important subject of Iran’ 😩

Don also says he’s the greatest President that the Israelis have ever had the privilege of being invited to see 😳

BustingBaoBun · 07/04/2025 20:25

I can't bear to watch them, two of the most evil men in the world.

From what I can gather the US are holding direct talks with Iran, which is hopefully positive. Either that or we’re about to see them getting bombed.

An interesting look by Guardian journalist, James Meadway, on how Trump's tariff policies could actually work for the US - "Already, countries such as Vietnam are promising to cut all their tariffs on US goods – a clear and brutal demonstration of the US’s continuing economic power."

archive.ph/ZS3wJ

It won’t help. The tariffs are based on trade deficits and countries like Vietnam cutting their own tariffs will not reduce the trade deficit for the simple reason that the US produces very little of what Vietnam either needs or can afford.

JoshLymanSwagger · 07/04/2025 20:52

You have to admit, there's never been a President quite as modest as Trump.

The premise of the article as I understood it is that the purpose of the tariffs is to encourage manufacturing to return to the US, ie, a reverse of what was engineered by the US federal reserve bank in the early 1980s. If that's so, it will 'work', ie, there's no purpose in trading with Vietnam.

his is the latest he is saying

President Trump, "If the talks aren't successful with Iran, I think Iran is going to be in great danger"

"Great danger. And I hate to say it because they can't have a nuclear weapon"

"If the talks aren't successful it will be a bad day for Iran"

TokyoSushi · 07/04/2025 21:30

Serpentstooth · 07/04/2025 21:30

I meant Vietnam cutting its tariffs to zero won’t achieve anything.

They’ve also claimed it’s to raise revenue in tax (tariff)for the US government so they can lower income tax.

which is probably mutually exclusive with increasing manufacturing in the US and reducing imports from elsewhere.

so fuck knows.

Deafnotdumb · 07/04/2025 21:41

Starting another war in the Middle East would certainly distract from the stock market woes.

I can't see how bombing Iran would end well.

So people will pay less tax but will pay more for goods.
Unless the goods are made in the USA which means fewer tariffs but the US Government still need money - so back to taxes.

I am pretty certain there are things that the US needs that they can't make themselves.

But what does the USA make that other countries in the world can't get from each other.

Essentially yes. And while they claim both things are the purpose of the plan I remain unconvinced there is a plan however many people try and rationalise one.

There’s also the were doing it to get better deals look at all the countries that are lining up to renegotiate argument

And the ‘everyone’s taking the piss out of the US and treating us unfairly, these are retaliatory tariffs based on what we are charged’ argument. - this one fell down as soon as Trump threw his toys out of the pram at China putting a 34% tariff on goods. Given the Trump tariff is half of what he’s claiming China were putting on US goods, making the tariffs match should be a 50% decrease, right?
