Will theses look crap ? /holiday wear

I have bought a dress and wide trousers. I live in leggings /jeggings. I haven't worn anything like this in around 20 years.

I'm now thinking when they come and I try them on they will probably stick to my fat bits and its going to look crap.

I know the answer is if it looks crap don't wear it. But it sort of brings me down when I realise I look like a prick .

The trousers look great on you OP, but will you wear heels coz they're very long? As for the top, I think you need something with a sleeve or at least a t shirt.

I was going to see if I can take them up . I dont wear heels at all . I was kind of going off them because I'm not sure if they will work with flats even if i can take then up.

I'm not sure on a sleeve because its for going to Spain would seem odd to have long sleeves. I was thinking maybe t-shirt though or maybe something very thin over the top . But covers shoulders and top of arms

What other clothes are you taking, have you got time for a Shein order?

I have never orded from shein I'm not sure of their sizes.

I'm going for 5 nights. So I'm thinking maybe 3 pair of cropped leggings. The ones that come a little below the knee. 3 vest tops and 3 t -shirts . Somthing thin to cover shoulders . Swimming suit , Something to cover over swimming suit the wide trousers in the pic. Although I am having 2nd thoughts. If i do change my mind then another pair of leggings. Travel in jeggings and top . Light cardigan.

I'm just going to be near the pool and beach really

Shein sizes are just uk sizes, they are pretty true to size.

I didn’t mean a baggy top just a non clingy fabric , I.e something that skims rather than clings , I’m not suggesting this top but this sort of fabric

I think at 6 quid ,it will look horrendous as it'll be cheap fabric. Don't be down on yourself if it does ,just try something else better made. I'm not snobby about cheap clothes and I love a bargain but rarely do they look as nice as in the photos. How you find something you're happy with. I love wide legs and floaty dresses.

glitterturd · 05/04/2025 14:38

You will notice that on the model the trousers are much wider. If you want these I would suggest you size up.

The thing is after holiday i probably won't wear them again. Also I could keep trying things on and they still won't look right and the more I try them on the more I will hate how I look. So i don't want to be doing that .

I wouldn’t size up in the trousers just a difference of opinion , the model is very skinny

and wide leg trousers can add volume as long as they are not clingy I would stick with the ones you have

pizzaHeart · 05/04/2025 15:06

Most of my holiday clothes I only wear on a holiday.
i like trousers but the top is all wrong - you need relaxed fit t-shirt, Have a look at Primark, it’s my first stop for T-shirts.
Are you going on your own or with kids? My problem with one color whitish dresses is that if you’ve got one spot somewhere - the whole dress is out, so something to consider. I would rather go for something with a pattern.

I probably won't holiday for at least a few years after this .

I'm not taking the white dress. I tried it on and look like my mother .

Could you wear with a thick sole flat pump? The sort that are sold in Primark? Or alternatively, a low wedge. I honestly think they fit you wonderfully. A cap sleeve top / t shirt would look lovely or a light chiffon sleeved too could work.

jambunny · 05/04/2025 17:34

How about adding a white thin cotton/linen shirt and wearing it open if you want to cover your arms?

Don’t be so hard on yourself, OP.
Love those trousers!

I’m a similar shape and size to you (probably a stone heavier than you) and I would tuck the vest in rather than having it pulled over the top of the trousers. Tucking my tighter fitting tops in accentuates my waist and allows looser fitting trousers to skim over the parts I’m not so fond of (my hips and thighs).
I’d probably have a white shirt on standby to chuck over in case I do feel uncomfortable.

Enjoy your holiday ☀️

4pmwinetimebebeh · 05/04/2025 21:43

Personally I think they look a bit cheap- sorry. I don’t think you can spend £6 on trousers and expect to look and feel fabulous, unless money is v tight I’d go shopping and try loads on and invest £30 odd in a pair that could also be worn in the UK and you can try styling it in different ways. Floaty trousers with a linen shirt knotted over can look great!

I wouldn't wear them in UK though it's just not me . But in holiday it doesn't feel so odd . I dont know why though. I don't think they look the best but also don't think they look gross

I will have a play about with them . I have heard the bottom can be cut without them fraying not sure if that's true though.

You can buy webbing to take up your trousers. It’s like a fabric tape that you place inside the folded bit and iron over it so it sticks and holds the fold together.
