Hospital snacks

Any suggestions for snacks to keep me going during a week in hospital? Have been advised to eat as many treats as I like to keep my strength up, but don’t think I will have access to a fridge or microwave, so snacks need to be ambient.

I eat very healthily and very little processed food so am dreading hospital food- as well as snacks any tips for making the meals more digestible would be welcome- so far I’ve made a jar of mixed seeds to have with my porridge but I’ve not got much further.

@Kirbert2

I hope your son has made a full recovery now. That sounds like a really tough, and a long time!

Thanks. He’s been home since January and is doing really well now.

I was in hospital for five weeks on a weight gain diet.
I used to love
Nature valley bars
Soft giant cookies
Haribo
Maltesers
Coated pretzels
Cornish fudge
And I always asked for McDonald's to be brought in when any visitor was passing!
If they have a fridge then fruit juices, supermarket sandwiches, yogurts. But some don't have a fridge for patient use.
The only good meals on the menu were a chicken dinner, jerk chicken from the Caribbean secret menu, jacket potato or beef stew.
Also order Deliveroo if you can! X

M and S do some really delicious mixed grain rice cakes that have quinoa in, good for a savoury snack? Meant to be healthy but I could demolish loads which probably defeats the objective!! Corn cakes are tasty too, and the popped crisps from m and s. Hope all goes well OP.

I've been in with my daughter rather than in myself, but satsumas, grapes, cherry tomatoes – something fresh and juicy, but that will keep a few days or longer at room temperature.

Oatcakes with butter and cheese is my daughter's favourite hospital-provided snack, although she does also have a favourite hospital biscuit.
