He was quite ill for a while I think. He was very handsome when he was younger.

BigJanette · 02/04/2025 07:51

Rest in peace Iceman.

Samcro · 02/04/2025 07:51

oh that is sad. he was brilliant as Jim Morrison.

blisstwins · 02/04/2025 07:51

65 is so young. He had cancer and was in rough shape for a long time. Sad. RIP.

SparklyGlitterballs · 02/04/2025 07:53

Not unexpected considering his health struggles, but very sad all the same. I thought he was brave to take part in the second Top Gun movie. RIP Val Kilmer.

Malvala · 02/04/2025 07:55

That’s so sad. My favourite Val Kilmer movie was Willow. He was my teenage crush.

Go raibh síocháin siorraí ort.

FatLarrysBanned · 02/04/2025 07:55

Very sad news. RIP Val.

lolly792 · 02/04/2025 07:58

Top Gun! Sad news, he was a talented actor and stunning looking as a young man. I believe he had throat cancer, he’d been a smoker, and had been very unwell for a decade.

stanleypops66 · 02/04/2025 08:10

Sad news. I heard on the news that it was pneumonia that he died from in the end.

PeggyMitchellsCameo · 02/04/2025 08:12

Ice Man ❤️

SwanOfThoseThings · 02/04/2025 08:17

By a coincidence, I was thinking about Val Kilmer this morning when I got up. I woke up (for no reason at all) with the 'Hold me, Thrill me' theme from 'Batman Forever' going through my head and this led to a brief train of thought where I was remembering who played Batman in that film, and who the adversaries and love interest were. My thoughts moved on, and then I had my customary look at the BBC News website when I'd got my cup of tea and saw that Val Kilmer had died. Very sad news and a weird coincidence.

theressomanytinafeysicouldbe · 02/04/2025 08:18

He didn't even want to be in Top Gun and it turned out to be his most successful film. He was so good looking.

EachandEveryone · 02/04/2025 08:28

Yes he was gorgeous when he was married to Joanne Whalley they were such a good looking couple

spiderlight · 02/04/2025 08:29

So sad. I was besotted with him in my teens and I've watched Top Gun so many times with my son. Rest easy, Iceman.

Damnloginpopup · 02/04/2025 08:32

Absolutely fucking hilarious in Top Secret! Hired it so many times...

Perfect handsome arrogant flyboy in Top Gun.

He WAS Jim Morrison.

Left some good entertainment behind.

BeaAndBen · 02/04/2025 08:38

He was great - I remember Kiss Kiss Bang Bang fondly but his absolute career best was as Doc Holliday in Tombstone.

Poor man, he’d been so ill for some time.

Waitingforspring77 · 02/04/2025 08:43

Sad news 😥 brilliant actor and gorgeous too. Rest in peace Ice

Binman · 02/04/2025 08:53

Ah he didn't treat her well though, he had affairs and at the time there were rumours of abuse, and he failed to keep up with his maintenance. Not usually a popular stance on mumsnet.

TooBigForMyBoots · 02/04/2025 08:55

I loved him in Top Secret!

TooBigForMyBoots · 02/04/2025 09:11

Now I can't stop singing How Silly Can You Get.

echt · 02/04/2025 09:13

This is sad.
I liked him very much in Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang and Heat.

HelenWheels · 02/04/2025 09:13

very sad news

Paul2023 · 02/04/2025 09:34

Just found this out, sad news..Tombstone was also one of my favourite films..

Springtimefordaffs · 02/04/2025 09:41

Huckleberry! Great acting.
Note to self to find some of these others being mentioned.

IntermittentFarting · 02/04/2025 09:42

He spent months perfecting his Jim Morrison act and voice, even before he was cast. Did all the singing himself, and was almost indistinguishable from the real thing. Amazing performance.
