Why do many British celebrities once they get famous move to America, yet hardly any famous American celebrities move to the U.K.?

Think Harry Styles, James Corden, Gordon Ramsay and others.

Because there is more work in the US and the wages and working conditions in media are MUCH better.

Errr because there's more money to be made in the US and there's a bigger market to sell entertainment to.

And yes some do move to the UK quietly. Madonna and Clooney being two that string to mind.

Because America (and more specifically L.A./Hollywood) is the centre point of all celeb culture. It’s where you meet the connections, you’re not going to be AAA unless you’re at the heart of machine. It’s very rare to reach that level of stardom (or have the huge protections on every level that come with it) without immersing yourself in the scene. Once you’re that big, you can move anywhere (like Madonna).
