Socks that don't cut into your leg

I have this problem with any socks with elastic tops. I don't think I have fat ankles but maybe tender skin or something and either socks have got worse over the years or my ankles have.
I have some nice ones from BAM clothing (roll tops) but they don't make that style any more.
Any suggestions?

Gentle Grip socks work well for me.

BlackSheepHere · 01/04/2025 20:42

Have you tried men's socks? I always buy men's from Next. They have a wider cuff so don't dig in and are (or at least they feel as if they are) wider than women's socks.

Calzedonia do roll top socks

Bamboo socks from sock shop, bought some for my autistic son but also got some for me. The top is definitely less elastic

Sock shop gentle grip

I second Sock shop Gentle Grip socks! I have big feet (9) so buy the men's. The are very resonable on Amazon and much cheaper than those in a previous post I get black ones and some lovely colours.

I've never posted a link here before, so don't know whether it will work. It doesn't look quite right somehow!

Redshoeblueshoe · 01/04/2025 21:43

Stillamum yes your link did work. I cut the elastic out of mine.

TheDandyLion · 01/04/2025 21:43

I buy men's socks from Tesco. They are good quality, don't dig in and last for ages.

These socks as PP has said are what you want. Supremely comfortable and stylish and no way they would cut in!

I like Seasalt socks, the ones with a roll top like these:

painpain · 02/04/2025 07:44

Sockshop definitely. Their soft cuff ones are fantastic. Bought for my autistic daughter but now me and my mum wear nothing but too.

TheCurious0range · 02/04/2025 07:45

Seasalt do bamboo socks with a loose roll top

SandrenaIsMyBloodType · 02/04/2025 08:01

BAM also do a wide range of bamboo socks. You can forget you’re wearing them they’re so comfy.

SomersetBrie · 02/04/2025 08:30

Thanks everyone, food for thought.

I like the look of a lot of these.
Prior to this I tried Sea Salt men's socks (with birds on them). The groove in my leg is like someone wrapped a wire around me, I honestly can't see who can wear them.
I'm going to buy a few of those linked above - my mum has the same problem (clearly some kind of ankle genetics) so any good ones I can pass to her as well.

Thanks.

I see Seasalt roll tops are already mentioned

SomersetBrie · 02/04/2025 08:38

(Just adding that I realise Sea Salt roll tops are different to the men's socks I mentioned. Roll tops are the way to go!)
