Or don't the big outlets do that anymore ?

I've seen stories that are frankly unbelievable, but they wouldn't be funny hoaxes...

I just saw one about IKEA launching meatball flavoured lip balm. Grin

I've seen a Scouts "chocolate badge".

Apparently our Beavers are doing their skydiving badge this term.

Eurocamp sent an email introducing their branded speedos.

There's also one (don't know if it's from them) about them building a 2km long store with a linear layout so people can't get lost in it.

Just seen a good one on FB that suggests that whoever runs British Transport Police's social media might be a Mumsnetter.

All public transport is going to be shoes off, with shoe racks at the entrance to all trains and buses.

The Scotsman had a decent one about Calmac ferries and Trump- it could almost have been real!

ohnowwhatcanitbe · 01/04/2025 19:48

We got one at work this morning from a supplier doing a product recall because the quality was too high.

My local town council did one about doing a trial of a canine postal service, inviting people to bring their dogs in for interviews.

Little disappointed it's an April fools Grin

OMG that would be my dog’s dream job!

sommerjade · 01/04/2025 21:01

@Fictionreader100there’s actually an eccentric aristo with a stately home in my area who has an art event in the summer complete with hippy dippy naturists so that’s not so far fetched.. except his events aren’t widely advertised; I only know about them as I’m friends with one of his village tenants.

Connections was a bit mental this morning
See also Spelling Bee 🤯

I agree about Connections, but although I’ve found quite a few words on spelling bee, I haven’t spotted the April Fool.

Pliudev · 02/04/2025 18:58

I read an article in The G about a new building to provide student housing in North Oxford. It was described as rhubarb and custard in colour, with a pangolin on the roof. I assumed it was an April Fool but given the state of current UK architecture I'm really not sure.

There was a story on gmb about a hawk that attacked people. I think now that’s probably not true (I was half asleep at the time)

Definitely true!

The Bristol Post online did one about Sokes Croft (very alternative part of Bristol) being granted UNESCO World Heritage Site status on account of its unique cultural tradition and street art. It almost had me going for a moment until I got to the bit about the bonfire on Turbo Island, a small patch of waste ground where alternative types like to have impromptu parties, being kept permanently alight in the manner of the Olympic flame.

It wouldn't work in the right wing newspapers. They believe any old rubbish.
