Has anyone spotted the April Fools in the News?

Gosh I don't seem to have much luck! Lots of my posts get chewed up like this - honestly it was incredibly benign. There was a nice photograph of a Victoria crowned pigeon and perhaps the photo needs to be checked after the recent unpleasantness (MN was swamped with images of CSA and temporarily shut down all imagery).

I also posted something recently about a free event and that was deemed spam even after I emailed them about it to assure that it wasn't. Oh well. It was just a blog post I'd written for our work blog (CS4FN = Computer Science For Fun) about whimsical things computer scientists at play get up to, using the example of broadband via carrier pigeon. I'm going to write a few more this month as computer scientists have been doing lots of bonkers things which I want to tell the world about :)

Local news ones tend to work better. I saw an amusing one on a local Facebook page this morning that caught a couple of people out.

The Walkers crisps one is weird though, because they’ve already posted about that on instagram. Hardly an April Fool’s joke if not done on the day!

My local town council did one about doing a trial of a canine postal service, inviting people to bring their dogs in for interviews.

that's true, it was a follow up of a story from a few weeks back

I'm a journalist so hilarious PRs often send out hilarious April Fool press releases, but I've only had one today, about a nursery chain inventing something that can translate baby talk into adult language. I used to work for a tech magazine and it was impossible to tell whether a release was supposed to be April Fool or not.

Local Newsshopper claimed a huge statue of Sadiq Khan was to be erected in Greenwich Park . 😆
