Best sofa bed

Looking for a sofa bed that you would mainly use as a sofa but could be used for occasional guests. So it would need to be quite good quality and comfortable as a sofa as it would be in the living room rather than a spare bedroom.

Can anyone recommend?

Short answer is no, I can't recommend one.
IMO, they are generally only just ok as a sofa and often shit as a bed!

Over the years, we've tried several. Had a traditional type where you pull out the metal bed frame part from underneath the sofa seat. We paid for a thicker, sprung mattress which was good for a while, then it started to roll in the middle.

We then had a futon company one like the pic. Easy enough to flip down and ok to sleep on. We used it a sofa for only a year before the cover stated to fray. We didn't have pets/children and I don't think DH and I were overly rough when sitting/standing from it!

We then had a corner sofa, with a large, rectangular footstool that fitted into the L shaped slot and made a double bed of sorts. With a mattress topper laying across the top, this was bearable and the best of the above options. We did have to add a brick to stop the footstool moving away from the sofa at night!
