wordywitch · 31/03/2025 19:43

My husband doing the washing up

BloodyHellBob · 31/03/2025 19:51

My ds complaining loudly about the injustice of having to actually do his homework 😑

PiastriThePastry · 31/03/2025 20:00

My daft dogs tippy-tapping around the kitchen
My three year old son snoring just ever so slightly
My three week old daughter starting to snuffle for another feed
The radio, quietly playing absolute country in the kitchen downstairs
My call ducks quacking every so often, not sure why they’re piping up now

Boutonnière · 31/03/2025 20:07

The kerchunk, clunk of the Sainsbury’s delivery unloading next door’s shopping. Distant sound of my DH laughing at something on his PC, two floors up. Apart from that, nothing despite being in outer London - our road is very quiet. Birds outside have given up their evening squawk and settled down for the night.

GreatTheCat · 31/03/2025 20:10

The noice of the engine of the ship im on.

blackheartsgirl · 31/03/2025 20:17

A blackbird calling
other birds cheeping
the sound of distant traffic on the bypass about a mile away

thats it. I’ve a very quiet house tonight, everyone’s out

WildFlowerBees · 31/03/2025 20:17

My horse munching and the occasional gentle snort, birds shutting up shop for the night. Utter bliss.

Hedjwitch · 31/03/2025 20:23

A blackbird singing. DH shuffling about having just come in from.work. DS sneezing. Clocks ticking

User57713 · 31/03/2025 20:30

These are all (mostly) so lovely.

I've got ds1 practising his chanter (bagpipes) upstairs in his bedroom and ds2 practising a different tune on his chanter downstairs in his bedroom.
And the dog yowling along every time ds2 reaches a particular note in his playing. It must be some weird frequency that hurts the dog's ears. Or the dog is just very musical.

The kids both wear ear plugs when playing so they don't hear each other. I should get some too. They don't usually practise this much but they've got a big pipe band event at the weekend.

TheChosenTwo · 31/03/2025 20:32

Ds opening the jam jar for topping his scone.
Dd talking to him about a new game coming out that they should get and play together.

TimeForABreak4 · 31/03/2025 20:33

A car going up the street, teenage dd watching something in her room.

Offtobuttonmoontovisitmrspoon · 31/03/2025 20:34

LindorDoubleChoc · 31/03/2025 20:40

The voice in my head telling me to stop wasting time on Mumsnet.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 31/03/2025 20:42

Led Zeppelin 'Since I've Been Loving You' on the television via YouTube.

Oh no, it's now gone to 'Baba O'Reilly' with The Who.

ShrubLover · 31/03/2025 20:43

My tinnitus, the fridge, the kitchen clock ticking

pearbottomjeans · 31/03/2025 20:45

NOTHING

Thank fucking god. For the first time in genuinely..... months. I am alone. Ahhh. Probably jinxed that now. I am neverrrr alone. I can hear the computer keys typing, the buzz of the house (fridge etc), a couple cars going past. About to go and watch some telly and write an essay. Need to plan for work tomorrow. But, the peace! 3 children upstairs finally asleep. DH abroad.

Spidder · 31/03/2025 20:45

Radio 6.
Dh breathing. Ffs. He can't do anything quietly.
Dd stomping about upstairs.
Next door's dog barking intermittently.

squashyhat · 31/03/2025 20:58

Nothing. In a hotel room, on my own, for 3 blissful nights. I might turn the air-conditioning on in a minute.

Adviceneededpleasehelpme · 31/03/2025 21:08

My husband snoring, grunting and making zombie type noises (he's caught my cold so I'll let him off!)
And my tinnitus

WatchingTheClowns · 31/03/2025 21:09

The TV in the background
DH talking to himself about something
The cat, eating his biscuits

Softdressesandblouses · 31/03/2025 21:14

The brook at the bottom of my garden and the crackle of the fire pit.
