Describe your mam in 3 words

With the day that’s in it , it got me thinking of 3 words I would think of when describing a loving mother .

The 3 words I thought of are the polar opposite from the words I would use to describe my own mam .

For my mam I think of drunk , self centered & selfish . Which is actually quite sad .

I rang her this morning to wish her happy Mother’s day and to say I would call
up after lunch with her gift & cards … she had gone to the pub when I got there !! I left them
in the porch .

That’s why I don’t see mine, had years of it, she’s in 80’s now, not seen her for 20 years, toxic behaviour all my life, got to the stage where I couldn’t do it anymore, never knew how she would be. If I hear she’s died I won’t go to funeral, will I grieve, possibly, for what I should have had. I have an amazing relationship with my children, adults now
break free.

Some of these answers are quite cathartic.

My mum: alcoholic, weak, insecure

I asked my 8 yo for me: kind, funny, phone-addicted 😬

@LittleGlowingOblong I agree , very cathartic.

I feel less alone knowing I’m not the only one who doesn’t have a healthy relationship with my mother .

I asked my 8 year to describe me and she said I was good humoured, friendly and kind 😊

Another Selfish. Miserable. Dead.
Unfortunately, the older I get the more like her I look. 😞
But, I have my father's personality and disposition, phew!

McQueensMuse · 30/03/2025 20:09

Jealous, nasty and bitter!

shellyleppard · 30/03/2025 20:09

Alcoholic , selfish ,spiteful

Compash · 30/03/2025 20:10

Poisonous little narcissist.

Love and solidarity to everyone who's piqued by Mothers' Day every year because we see what we've missed - and love to those who had good Mums and have come to honour them.

We all have our experiences, good or bad, but with luck we can learn from them and go forward in greater love. ❤️
