Read a Facebook post earlier from old school friends Mum. It was just saying how being a mum, mother in law and grandma was the best feeling and made her so happy. So so pleased for her and her family truly some of the nicest, kindest people you can hope to meet.
i just wish my own relationship with mother in law could be like that. For what ever reason she has decided that’s not the relationship she wants. That’s fine will always be civil for DH just be so lovely to have a mother in law who was pleased I was part her family.

That makes me very sad for you. I completely get it because my first serious boyfriend's mum was like that too, perfectly kind to me but absolutely not interested in any kind of relationship with me independently of her son. It wasn't personal as she was exactly the same with her other sons' girlfriends/wives too. I find it weird. I'm not a MIL myself yet, but I can't imagine being basically indifferent to the person DS chooses to spend his life with!

Is your own mum still around? How's your relationship with her?

@FetchezLaVache thank you for replying.
lucky still have my mum here, we get on well mostly unfortunately she can be quite manipulative silly things not answering her phone to cause worry.
MIL it’s sad, I used to try and put in lots of effort but it was never reciprocated so stopped. Still pleasant to her but don’t make that extra effort.
