How to eat less ultra processed food as a family?

I was brought up on ultra processed food as a child, am overweight but slowly losing weight!
We have a lot of ultra processed food as a family.
Any tips how to have less or what to eat?

We both work full time, 2 young children, so try and do quick dinners which always seem to have something ultra processed in it.

I don't get how sausages are seen as ok?just figuring it out,we are veggie so assumed Quorn ones were pretty upf?
For me I need suggestions for lunch boxes/after school treat.think I need to make my own buns.popcorn is a good idea.

Most sausages aren’t okay - same as ham.

I did this a few years ago after a health scare.
Start with just reading the ingredients on what you are buying. Even frozen chips, you’ll be amazed how some of them have loads of unnecessary ingredients and some of them are just potatoes and oil.

Then start making simple swops like others have suggested. Finally work on your cooking. Put the time in to write up a list of things you can cook from scratch and use that to make a four week dinners meal plan that you simply rotate.

We eat a lot of simple meat/fish, potatoes and veg dinners. It doesn’t need to be complicated.

I want to do this. We eat ok, reasonably healthy, but we do eat a lot of processed stuff and I want to do better.
