Does anyone remember the days you’d buy a French stick/baguette/whatever you want to call it and it reached the end of the packaging, sometimes even peeking beyond the end, affording you a nibble without anyones sandwich size suffering?
Fast forward and this is what I find myself dealing with.
I haven’t marked this as a sensitive photo but it bloody should be, I’m finding it incredible upsetting.
Charge me more goddamit but just stop fucking with our food 😭

Where is that from? Did you pick it yourself? Were there other larger ones??

TheChosenTwo · 30/03/2025 14:39

Got it from Sainsbury’s, was the biggest one there from 5 or so I picked up although the differences were pretty minimal between them all.
I wouldn’t have deliberately picked a smaller one!

Thought not! That's an outrage then, and I'd feel the same. Bet all the massive ones had been nabbed. I remember buying them years ago and yes, they'd generally be poking out the top of the plastic bag. Will be heading to Sainsbury's tomorrow and will check the french sticks just in case it's the new size now.

I’ve noticed a decline over the years but this is now so apparent! They do themselves no favours not reducing the size of the packaging 😂 now it’s so visible that they are scrimping - that’s a whole persons worth of bread missing - swines!

That is outrageous OP

They should be the length where they are sticking out of the trolley so it looks like you are jousting (if at front) or are a tram pantograph (if upright)

I know @TyneTeas - wondering whether to start a petition to restore the humble baguette to its former glory 😂

Have they not just increased the bag so it actually covers the food now? I also thought that bit out the top was a bit gross 😂
