I've had a payment on my bank statement using this name and I don't recognise it. Does anyone know what it might be?

Could it be five business days? A transaction that will take 5 business days?

How much was the payment for? Can you tell from the details given if it was a payment made online or in person?

Could it be the shop five below?

healthybychristmas · 30/03/2025 14:24

I'm out of the country for a few weeks and it's not in the local currency and I haven't bought anything online for weeks. No? Not five business days. It's the company name or reference. It's for almost £120. Nothing paid to them before.

Does your app /online account not give you the option for more details? But if you don't recognise a transcation, perhaps your bank is the place to ask about it.

Goinggold · 30/03/2025 15:07

How much was it exactly? And what type of payment was it?

Could it be something that's autorenewed, did you pay for anything a year ago?

Tilda86 · 30/03/2025 15:15

Window cleaner? Dog groomer? Hair dresser? Often people who work for themselves have different names that show up on your bank statements.

ZookeeperSE · 30/03/2025 15:20

What country are you in? There are a few companies with that name in different countries

Rictasmorticia · 30/03/2025 15:24

FIVEB is a bank. Gets quite good reviews. Someone who banks with them sent you a payment

Dueanamechange2025 · 30/03/2025 15:29

Googling FIVEB comes up with an Audit & tax advisor firm. Have you had someone do your self assessment or something for you?

ZookeeperSE · 30/03/2025 16:16

….or an interiors company in Dubai….or a custom clothing item in USA….
So country may narrow it down.

Why would a payment show the name of the bank rather than the name of the account holder, I'm not sure thats going to be the answer

Google doesn't show me a bank but it does give a sports company in Pakistan, could it be that?

Rictasmorticia · 30/03/2025 17:24

When I get payments from Kent Reliance it showed as the holding bank which is One Savings Bank. That why I thought it might be a similar system used by FIVEB

Is that because Kent Reliance doesn't do current accounts so it's not another person sending you money it's the bank itself returning your own money?

You mean took a payment out!

I've figured it out, thanks everyone. I took £100 out and the figure on the statement included the extra charge as I'm abroad. It looks different to other times I've withdrawn money- my DIL explained I must have chosen a different option on the ATM - too tired to remember what though! All OK though thankfully. I was dreading freezing my bank card. Thanks!

Sorry, when you said a payment it thought you meant someone paid you. Glad you got it sorted.
