Strep Throat

I’ve been unwell for nearly a week. On Monday morning he GP said it was a virus. Went to the Pharmacy yesterday and I just missed their criteria for being given antibiotics. Was sent away with cough mixture and a throat spray. Thinking I need to go back to the GP on Monday, as although I feel a bit better in myself, my throat doesn’t feel right. Throat and cough worse at night. Posting here for traffic, excuse the grossness of the picture

So what’s strep got to do with it? Have you had a swab?

strep isn’t a virus.

chances are if it’s been a week and you’re starting to feel a bit better it is a virus.

i can only see a pic of the roof of your mouth, not your throat?

I know Strep isn’t a virus. I thought you could see my tonsils in the photo

So what makes you think it's bacterial? If it's viral then antibiotics will not help!

ScaryM0nster · 29/03/2025 20:49

Are you doing the basics right?

Early nights, plenty of fluids, fruit and veg, natural light, rest etc.

Theyre under rated but need to give your body a fighting chance of immune system being able to do its thing.

If that's white pustules on your tonsils then you may need a course of antibiotics. I believe it usually indicates infection.

I've had strep throat and it was the most agony I've ever been in with a sore throat. Very painful to talk let alone swallow water.

Just to update, I’ve got some antibiotics
