Where do you buy nice clothes for your pre-teen girl?

Wondering where people buy their pre-teenage girls clothes? Mine likes colour and patterns, and a lot of the clothes for this age are black and grey! Need some inspiration please!

Definitely take a look at Boden. They have good sales and the girls’ clothes are lovely and colourful.

Thank you! Boden is a regular for us - is there anywhere else similar for that age group?

Oh I hadn't thought of there! Thanks for that ☺️

New Look, although it's a bit hit and miss.

Namechange032025 · 28/03/2025 18:36

Mine wouldn't be seen dead in Boden so depends how fashion conscious they are but Hollister, Zara, H&M are faves

Sinkingfeeling952 · 28/03/2025 18:36

Lindex? It says it goes up to age 14 and their stuff (or at least for babies and toddlers) is bright and colourful and well made

fiorentina · 28/03/2025 18:41

H&M, Mango, Hollister and sportswear brands.

fiorentina · 28/03/2025 18:42

Also depending how tall they are - Uniqlo.

BangingOn · 28/03/2025 18:49

Hollister, Abercrombie and Fitch, Zara.

Doggymummar · 28/03/2025 18:50

Does popsy go that big?

Snorlaxo · 28/03/2025 18:52

Primark, H&M, M&S ?

PragmaticIsh · 28/03/2025 18:53

Next, Zara, H&M.

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 28/03/2025 18:58

Look on Pinterest for outfit inspo, then when you know what you want to buy, look on Vinted. It'll be cheaper and introduce you to brands you wouldn't have thought of.

MrsWaltonGoggins · 28/03/2025 19:00

Next have lots of bright colours usually. My pre teen shops at new look and H&M mostly.

Lovelynames123 · 28/03/2025 19:00

Mine like H&M and Primark, but mainly wear sports gear, Nike Pro is a firm favourite but is shopped around for...they actually don't have many 'nice' items, mainly leggings, shorts, tshirts and hoodies

APurpleSquirrel · 28/03/2025 19:04

DD is 10 but the height of 12-13 yo. It’s a bit of a mixture tbh. Bits from Sainsbury’s, M&S, H&M, New Look, Next, John Lewis. I loved the stuff from FatFace, but they’ve discontinued their kids range.

Onlyonekenobe · 28/03/2025 19:05

Zara has a tween section! It gets that not-a-young-girl-but-not-a-teenager-either line just right.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 28/03/2025 20:26

It's a difficult age to shop for, especially if tall. DD had bits from m&s, H&M, new look, matalan, next, Tu.., also wouldn't be seen dead in Boden by then. Nowhere consistent.

I've seen this advertised recently, looks good.

Jemimapuddleduk · 28/03/2025 20:32

I wish my 12 year old still loved colours and patterns. I miss the Boden days and beautiful clothes. Next, M&S, H&M may fit the bill. Also look at mayarol, it’s a Spanish make and they have lovely stuff up to age 15.
Mine only wears cream, grey, black, taupe. Super boring. It’s all white fox and new look and she fits in size 4 or 6 at women’s river island and next (jeans, tops etc).

Jemimapuddleduk · 28/03/2025 20:33

Sorry mayoral!
also monsoon kids might be a good option too!

VintagePage · 28/03/2025 22:21

Thanks everyone! Some good suggestions here, a few I've never heard of, and some I'd forgotten about.

Why is everything for this age group either teeny and cropped, or hugely oversized and shapeless?!?

Are there still girls of 11/12 who wear kids' clothes and let their moms choose it for them?.Not criticising - if all involved are definitely 100% happy with that set up that's cool.

All the girls this age I know are basically teen/adult clothing which they choose themselves. My twelve year old and her friends love Primark!

I would not have a clue how to pick clothes she found acceptable, so I gave up trying, apart from huggtwware, stuff to wear in the house, and stuff that is pretty much identical to things she already has (such as a hoodie in a marginally different colour).

SparkyBlue · 28/03/2025 23:03

It really depends on what your DD is into. My 12 year old wouldn't be seen dead in any Nike pro stuff but I'm sure others wouldn't like her clothes either. It's a minefield
