Hi i probably shouldn’t be using my phone but need
advice!

my toddler just kicked me in the eye really hard at full force and his big toe went straight in my eye. I saw a huge flash of light and then black obviously as I closed my eye! But it really hurt and just feels so tender and eye started to twitch.

should I go to get it looks at or a waste of their time ?

Is it just tender and painful now? Vision all ok?

If it is the above then a cold compress is all you can really do.

If changes to vision then get it looked at.

Thank you @LuckysDadsHat for the advice I needed! Will keep a cold compresss on :)

Personally I would go and get an optician to look at it.
I don't think you can take chances with your eyesight.

The flash of light would be enough to make me have it get out at an eye hospital / opticians - it can be a sign of a retinal issue and if it was a hard knock it’s better to be safe than sorry. (You’ll need somewhere that can put dilating drops in your eyes so they can examine your retina).

I agree that with eyes it's better safe than sorry. I would phone a local opticians, explain what has happened and ask whether they can fit you in today.

unless you live close to an eye hospital (moorfields) go to an optician. they have the right tools to check and if they see something concerning can recommend an eye clinic.

Thank you all for your advice. Opticians didn’t have any appointments, called 111 and they advised a&e so currently waiting here now. Eye is starting to feel very gritty so glad I’m here!

Not to say your experience will be the same but 111 recommended nearest A&E when my husband injured his eye and the A&E doctor told us there was nothing he could do and we should go to an eye hospital. He said that's what he'd do if it was his own eye, don't mess about with eyes etc.

We wished 111 had given us that advice as we wasted a lot of time in A&E first, then went to the eye hospital where we also had a long wait (but at least we knew we were in the right place).

Good luck, hope your eye is fine.
