Woo thread- seeing things out of the corner of my eye

We live in an old house build around 1906. we’ve been here 4 years and it’s a happy home!
I keep seeing things out of the corner of my eye, over the past year but getting worse. As I’m watching tv I’ll see something moving in the kitchen. I often feel like I can see in my peripheral vision someone pulling their head back quickly from looking round the doorway.
It sounds scary but I don’t feel scared or threatened it’s just weird…? I don’t get it anywhere else (work/out and about/others houses).
Anyone experienced similar?

Maybe you need an eye test?

Imisscoffee2021 · 27/03/2025 21:12

No thank god and long may I continue to not experience this. I live in an old 1800s cottage and the painter decorator was a part time medium and told our landlord there's an old woman in the attic but not to worry she's looking forward to new people... thankfully no hint of anything but damp up there so far.

When I was incredibly sleep deprived after having DD I saw Elvis out of the corner of my eye
Not quite the same thing though

Oh just saw you don't get it in other places...but anyway I don't really believe in things like that..

4pmwinetimebebeh · 27/03/2025 21:13

@Comedycook have had an eye test!

Yeah, I get this. But it's not woo, it's ophthalmological.

sparrowflewdown · 27/03/2025 21:19

Our spare bedroom. Wherever anyone sleeps in there they report disturbing dreams... repeatedly bitten by rats and attacked by dogs to name a couple. Not sure what is going on it is a lovely room and feels fine otherwise.

I'm not being dismissive at all, I am open-minded about these things OP so who knows. But I get this when I get a migraine. As I've become older, the migraine isn't always a headache/painful, and sometimes the only symptom I'll have is seeing "ghosts" out of the corner of my eye.

SmurfKingdom · 27/03/2025 21:36

Ooh I love something spooky. Has anything else happened? Anyone else seen anything?

Redrosesposies · 27/03/2025 21:40

Are you sure it's not a floater OP? I get them occasionally but the worst one was when I was at A&E on one of DH's many visits and I was convinced there was cat with an enormous fluffy tail in the corner of the room running under a trolley. It was quite scary and took over a year to dissipate fully.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/03/2025 21:40

Migraine
Low blood pressure

I sometimes hallucinate with the above.

WearyAuldWumman · 27/03/2025 21:42

I was seeing movement out of the corner of my eye. Was told that it was my husband in spirit coming back to see me...

My optometrist has confirmed that I have floaters in my eye.

PleaseDontFingerMyPouffe · 27/03/2025 21:42

I am also thus haunted. It's the ghosts of spiders I've wacked with a shoe...

Ocularpatdown · 27/03/2025 21:50

Also worth checking your carbon monoxide detectors are in working order xx

Pedallleur · 27/03/2025 21:52

My colleague has a ghost cat. He and his wife have a log of incidents. It's been seen by various people coming to the house. Only 1 cat there but this one is seen and heard regularly. The real cat that lives there plays with the ghost! Can also be heard going up the stairs and jumping around upstairs
Knew someone who died and in her final days she said she could see people walking about in her house. Someone I knew who researched paranormal things told me that as you get closer to death you see the spirits of other people as the curtain that separated life and death gets thinner.make of it what you will

Yes I have experienced this. I was visiting a friend at her new home, and after breakfast I offered to do the washing up. As I was stood at the sink, out of the corner of my eye I saw a small child stood to the side of me. I turned my head to speak to what I thought was her son, but when I looked at the spot where I saw the child there was no one there. There were a number of other incidents that weekend following the same theme of experiencing a small unknown child’s presence (and something that I have since learnt was a regular occurrence for my friend and her family) and I have tried to find an explanation of what could have caused those incidents, but there is no explanation that makes sense. I have never experienced this before or since.

Airwaterfire · 27/03/2025 22:12

I get this with floaters in my eye!
